Robert De Niro “De Niro. Pacino. What else do you need to know?” That’s the minimalist message the Righteous Kill commercials present you. What else indeed? The De Niro/Pacino tag team is a movie lover’s wet dream, the unification of two forces of nature, that has occurred only once before in cinematic history in Michael Mann’s classic Heat. (The Godfather Part II doesn’t count). So significant was this occurrence that many cinephiles chose to forgo the use of B.C. and A.D. to denote the passing of time and opted instead to refer to history as simply “pre-Heat” and “post-Heat.”...

John C. Reilly For those of you who remember Will Ferrell’s last film, Semi-Pro, you’ll probably agree that there wasn’t much worth remembering about it. Despite the box office success of more recent films like Talladega Nights ($158 million worldwide) and Blades of Glory ($138 million worldwide), it has been argued by some that Will Ferrell movies have lost their charm. The Dark Knight Raise your hand if you went to film school. Come on, raise them up, don’t be shy; I went there too. Alright, so now that we’ve got that sorted out, do you remember what it was like the first time you watched The Godfather or Citizen Kane or Casablanca in class and realized that those films actually are as amazing as everybody through the decades has said they are?
