The Fanpop Prop Flaw

Opinion posted 9 months ago
Fanpop
The concept of the prop is wonderful. Fanpop is a user based site and users should have the ability to reward others for their hard work. I also agree with the idea behind Prop Day. It should serve as a reminder to all users to give that reward. However, the prop system has become flawed. Very flawed. I happened upon a user profile and saw several props. I looked to see when the user started Fanpopping and saw that it had only been two months. Wow! This person must have added tons of content. So I looked at the activity. No links had been added, no videos, no images (mind you, the profile had...

The How-To Mystery

Mystery Novels
Are you in the mood to try a new hobby, but not sure if you really want to get involved? Perhaps you’d like some new techniques for a hobby you already pursue. If so, reading a mystery novel may be your answer. I’ve noticed a recent trend in mystery novels. If you read several new mystery series you’ll discover a lot of them are what I call “How-To Mysteries”. Zoos
Zoos are wonderful things. Some people think that zoos are "bad" as they cage animals that should be left in the wild. In a perfect word that would be wonderful. However humanity has spread and is destroying the wilderness that many animals call home. Deforestation, housing reaching out further and further, poaching, lack of care, ignorance, heck even the Arctic isn't safe anymore thanks to humanity and global warming. Zoos are a refuge. Many have breeding programs hoping to stop the extinction of many animals. With the polar icecaps melting, perhaps the only place for polar bears to live...

GGMR

Rats
While reading an e-mail from one of my rat groups I read about an interesting phenomenon called GGMR. After discovering what the acronym stood for I burst out laughing. Although the catchphrase was new to me, the reality of its existence was longstanding, and entirely too familiar. GGMR-Gotta Get More Rats.
GGMR has a few distinct causes. First of all, it is the wonderful personalities and absolute cuteness of rats. The more you are around rats, the more you love them. After a few days with my first boys, I knew I could never be without rats. Their...

I Rescued a Human Today

Dogs
If you're considering adding a dog to your family, please consider adopting one from a shelter. I found the following story written by Janine Allen and thought it very important to share. The following was written by Janine Allen, not me.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look...
