I think this spot and the majority of it's members have worked to ensure that when we talk about things we dislike about the series it's things we feel strongly about or have an actual point to make, not just mindless hating and that when we poke fun we try to keep an eye on the line between fun mockery and plain rudeness, even though that line can be debatable or hard to see. Still, there are some cases when I can see fans feeling left out, singled out or wanting out completely, and I don't like that. Part of the problem is something us antis can't really help with, which is that not many...
I recently read an article that said Joss Whedon is not a feminist writer because he often shows his female characters emotionally vulnerable (it was phrased in a more patronising way, but that was the gist) and I didn't get it. For those who don't watch his shows he is known to show ALL his characters at times like that, not just the women. He focuses heavily on loss, tragedy and overcoming adversity, and I just don't understand why in shows that have every character facing vulnerability, pain and weakness it's un-feminist that some of those characters are women. I actually think the person...
I've seen yet another comment saying people who thought the Edward/Bella relationship was abusive have either not read the book or have simply 'misunderstood' it, and am completely losing my ability to politely respond when I hear that, so I'm writing this so in future I don't even have to respond, I can link to here and avoid the risk of snapping and going on an all caps rant. I'm pointing out at the start that I'm not accusing all Twilighters of this, there are lots of Twilight fans on the spot who are able to give their opinion in a pleasant, grown up way, and I really appreciate that...
The only thing's in this picture I'm happy to see the back of are Riley and Dawn!
As soon as I heard about this idea I went into automatic fan-rage mode, and part of me is still itching to get into another rant, so please excuse any spelling or grammatical errors, they are the result of 40% of my attention going towards holding back more ranting.
So, in the spirit of the logical, bias free attitude I will almost certainly have completely abandoned by the next paragraph, I'll start by saying that legally they have every right to do this, and that if ever there was a good time to make money of a Buffy movie it's now. The thing is, and I say this not as a fan,...
After reading a list called 'the 7 most sexist Disney characters' I started thinking about my view of the classic Disney heroines. They're not generally considered a good example, and I agree with the issues people have with them, and often roll my eyes at parts of their personalities or stories, but despite that I have to admit I'm still a fan.
One issue people have in Disney is people falling in love in seconds based on looks or singing ability. That one I actually think is okay. The fact is it's a fairy tale, so if they want to say love at first sight exists I'm fine with...
