Picks are NOT made for advertising!

Opinion posted 1 year ago
Fanpop Etiquette Just a little heads up.

It has been going on for awhile, but I've noticed it especially most recently. The bottom line of this entire article lays in its title: pick's aren't made for advertising.

Repetitively, picks are being created that ask "I've just made a spot for ___, will you join it?", or something along those lines. Picks like these aren't really opinions and hold little gumption in terms of an interesting poll or contrasting views on a subject. Picks like these are being made to solicit new spots, which isn't what picks are for.

Fanpop Users 1. Fanpop

I'm afraid of what would have happened if I didn't put Fanpop first...Anyway, Fanpop is a great site. It's the one I've joined the most recently, but it's quickly moved up to the top of the list of favorites. It has all tons of great pictures, videos, picks, etc for all of the things I'm a fan of and it's all posted by fantastic users. I can find content here that I wouldn't normally find elsewhere. There's so many wacky people here and basically all of them are good-hearted. A lot of other sites have tons of hateful users that come with the...

Finding Fanpop

Opinion posted 1 year ago
Fanpop
The internet is losing the magical veil of interest it once held over you. You've been on all the really popular sites you already know about and have eventually grown board of them. Sure you type into your blog every now and then, but that's not enough to keep you online for more than ten minutes. After a while, you figure you might as well look for that episode of The Office you failed to record, and therefore missed last week.

You type the title of the episode into Google and browse through the first couple links that pop up. All of them are broken videos, or they have very...

The Jagged Edge

Opinion posted 1 year ago
Writing Someone once told me,

"Being a writer is like being a prostitute, really. At first you're only doing it for yourself, then you decide to tell a few friends, let them in on the action, then you decide to let a couple strangers in, pretty soon you're welcoming the entire world."

Such a very accurate quote. When I heard this, I was at a very formal luncheon with a few kids from my journalism class in which we produced the school's newspaper: The Jagged Edge. It was an awards ceremony for individual work as well as our newspaper as a whole to be recognized....

Role Playing...Not on Fanpop?

Opinion posted 1 year ago
Fanpop Hey, everyone. I'm sure most of you have heard of or are familar with role playing, right? I'm not talking about RPG games, but the actual act of role playing. Where you get into a character from a series, game, movie, etc, or create your own character and post with one person or a group with your own storyline and setting. The genres are vast, everything from anime to wolves. It's a popular activity that many (as far as I can tell) enjoy, and it's found on many sites. A lot have forums dedicated to it as well. Fanpop is becoming increasingly popular, so I wonder why role playing hasn't been...
