Jonathan Larson: Measuring a Lifetime

Opinion posted 1 year ago
Rent
AUTHOR'S NOTE: The following was written for as an assignment for LA about poetry. It's a biography of his life.

Jonathan Larson may not be the first poet you think of when talking about... well, poetry... but that doesn’t mean he’s a stranger in our world today. In fact, some of his works are better known to our modern generation than classic poets like Emily Dickinson! But his name and story aren’t familiar to every member of this generation. Only a breed of people that call themselves “the rentheads” can dictate every minute of his life. Yes, you guessed it. Jonathan...

The Iraq War - Five Years and Counting

Opinion posted 1 year ago

Our troops have been bravely fighting for far too long.
Writers Note: This has some strong opinions. I wrote it for my blog. Therefore, it was meant to state my opinions loud and clear with no respect for others. Sorry about that guys, but if you're sensitive, proceed with caution. I'm also very liberal.

Well, we've been in Iraq for five years as of Wednesday. And now we might be getting into the same thing in Iran. Nothing is certain, that's just my opinion. Learn to love and not hate
This was originally going to be an article on all sorts of hatred, discrimination and prejudice. But then I had something horrible happen to me online this morning, and I decided that I was going to focus on one, simple, hate.

Homophobia.

In my experience, it's absolutely horrible. So in this article, I'm going to discuss why you should put a stop to it, and just go through a couple of small anecdotes, expressing to you how hateful, horrible and mean it can be.

The Importance of Good Spelling and Grammar

Opinion posted 2 years ago
Fanpop
Dictionaries are a handy tool.
One thing that's becoming more and more prominent as time goes on, is that people online don't feel the need to use good grammar and spelling. Now, despite the fact that when on IM or whatevs, it's really fine to use all of these little abbreviations like "jk" "lol" "atm" etc. etc. etc. Before I get any farther into this uncontrolled rant, let me just say that I do use some internet slang. Most of this, however, are words that I make up. So, whatevs, deelie, yuppers, wazhappenin, etc. etc. etc. I'm not one to use mainstream slang other than "lol" because there is NO replacement for LOL. No,...

The 2007 Broadway Season - "We're entering a new golden age"

Opinion posted 2 years ago
Musicals
Elizabeth Stanley, Kelly Jeanne Grant, Angel Desai and Raúl Esparza in the revival of "Company"
This past season on Broadway is sadly over, but it is not one to be forgotten. It has entered a new wave of hit musicals, bringing new ideas to the stage with every performance. From the amazing new rock opera, Spring Awakening, to revivals of much-loved shows such as Stephen Sondheim's Company, this season has had so much to offer, with six new musicals at the Tony awards, five revivals, and many plays, including the fantastic, three part Coast of Utopia.

The musicals were my personal focal point this season. The first one I'd like to bring up is...
