Ahh Christmas. The tree, the stockings, the mistletoe and - of course - the holiday television programming.

Some of my fondest Christmas memories were spent in front a of television watching such classics as the animated Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or one of the myriad versions of Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'.

The Top 10 Creepiest Fast Food Mascots

I don't eat much fast food anymore. Maybe it's because I read Fast Food Nation a few years back and that scared me off the chalupas and whoppers. Or it could be because the doctor told me to watch my fat intake and ease off the fried foods.

When I really think about it though, those excuses are kinda lame. I think that the real reason I don't eat fast food is because fast food restaurants are doing their damndest to scare us away from their restaurants. I mean look at the weirdos they have peddling their food. Scary clowns? Creepy old men? Purple blobs? The fast food companies...

Is There a Santa Claus? A Physicist's View...

Santa Claus would need a hell of a lot more reindeers than this to tow that massive amount of loot for all the world's Christian children...

This is a reprint of a classic article that ran in the now defunct Spy Magazine about 15 years ago or so. This article is all over the internets now, though few sites properly attribute the original source. In any event, here's the reprinted text to this holiday classic.

Consider the following:

1) No known species of reindeer can fly. But there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

The Top 10 Hottest Animated Disney Women

Ariel would've rated much higher but for her fins...

So it's the day after the long Thanksgiving weekend and I'm sitting at my desk at work thinking "Oh man, I wish I was still on vacation" when I hear two of my coworkers discussing Disney women. Or, more specifically, discussing which Disney cartoon female is the hottest of them all:

Coworker 1: What about Jasmine? She's hot!
Coworker 2: Yeah, but her nose was kind of on the big side, no?
Coworker 1: Maybe. What about Ariel?
Coworker 2: Mmm...isn't she underage?

Why Youtube Sucks

One of the recent YouTube outage messages.

For a lot of users, the world of online video sharing begins and ends with YouTube. And, to a certain extent, it did for me too, up until a few months ago. Over the past few months YouTube seems to have become less and less compelling. In fact, I find myself using the site less and less and going to other upstart video sharing sites with greater frequency (like Dailymotion, Bolt, Guba and others).
