1 day ago: It depends on what you mean by "the same". As with any discussion (or debate, if we were to go that far), it really depends on definitions. If you mean "the same" absolutely - that we were identical in every way - then there'd only be one of us (spatially we're all the same only if we're all in exactly the same place). If you allow difference in physical location, would we all be the same mentally? That situation might bring about the examples you mention (no war, discrimination, hunger or arguments), but it would mean that we would all be part of a vast hive mind. One person thinks of a pink elephant, everyone thinks of a pink elephant. One person scratches his ear because everyone is scratching his left ear. Total harmony!

It's possible that a slightly less extreme version of "the same" would have a similar effect (say, if we all had the same IQ, same education, upbringing, tastes, preferences, and values), but even then I'm not sure. Those shared values would have to be uniformly serving the group (rather than the individual) for there even to be a chance of no conflict.

Basically it boils down to will. If we each have the same free will, then there will be conflict and discrimination, because even if we wouldn't be unique beyond a few finite conditions (location, specific thoughts), we'd be looking at things through a different perspective than someone else in a different location. Brainwaves being the same would just end up meaning that people would have more predictable reactions, not that those reactions would be any less focussed on promoting themselves. If there's one cookie, and we think alike, we're probably both going to want the cookie and end up in conflict over it. Groups of like-minded (literally, in this case) people would have the same problem: "We all agree that you guys should bake us some cakes. And we won't return the books we borrowed from you until we get them (with cream cheese frosting)."

1 day ago: Quizzes: my suggestion is to either disable creating default icons for answers (when no image is uploaded). Right now we occasionally see quiz questions with three text answers and one answer that has a big blue icon reading "YES" or "NONE". It makes sense for picks, but for quizzes it looks terrible.

To answer the question, which is "What happens when all the quality content has been added to a spot?", I'll offer these:

* a lot of lesser quality content will be added
* comments and forum threads will continue if there are still fans
* If there are still fans, they will make sure that they've rated all content
* If there are still fans, they will police the links, reporting broken or expired links
* Fans may leave or stop participating, depending on the type of spot (some spots are more likely to stay alive with discussions than others)
* If there aren't fans, the spot will remain for others to discover in future generations (possibly through the super quiz or through rabid rating quests)
* The linked content will eventually disappear from the web, as all content does in time
* Fanpop will eventually shut down
* Our sun will cool to a red dwarf as it finishes burning all its mass
* the Universe will end with the cessation of all atomic motion (heat death)

That's all to answer the question "what will happen when all quality content has been added", but like many others in this thread, I think that's it's a hypothetical question that does not apply to spots in the real Fanpop.

4 days ago: With the spots I've created, I've never seen any public discussion of which images should be used, except (in one case) AFTER the banner image had been changed. For me, it's generally been an unpleasant surprise. I think, therefore, that I'm coming 'round to agree with the consensus: the spot should be consulted before changes are made.

I would add that my preference is that spot logos and banners don't change very often, as they give a strong sense of visual identity to a spot. For me, anyway, it's very jarring to have either or both change in any spot for which I'm an active fan (whether or not I created it). Consulting the fans makes such a big change much more palatable.

I was disappointed that it was a place, rather than a set of laws. I know, I know, the story required that the Doctor go somewhere to not be accessible to any of the spin-off characters and so that he could get some clues about what was happening, but I still don't like that it's the Shadow Proclamation that was used. But all the previous references made it seem like the Shadow Proclamation was a part of Galactic Law, rather than a police station.
