She had no true childhood. That was the plain truth. Her mother was to busy loving drinks to love a daughter.

He had a childhood. With a mother who loved to watch the snowflakes. A mother who was "different".

She had learned to live without Joe. For a long time, she talked to no one. Losing Joe hurt. She was always sad back then, very few smiles. In what seemed like the darkest time of her life, she met him. He was the flicker of light at the end of the long tunnel. When she first met him, there was no hope for there partnership. She woke up with him sleeping next to her. She didn’t move at first, she just watched him sleep. He was peaceful when he slept. Alex looked at man splayed out on the couch. She followed his arm to where it lay around her shoulders. Alex realized how much she needed Bobby. He was the only thing that had allowed her to sleep last night. She figured that the fire was probably out by now. To her that meant only one thing, she would have to go back. She had to pick up the charred pieces of her life.

As he pulled onto her street he could see the blazing fire. Searching the crowd, he found Alex. He got out of the SUV and walked up. Her eyes were cold and sad, even if they reflected the flames in front of her. She saw him coming and turned to face him when he got close. Her brown eyes were glassy. Amlex awoke to the thick smell of smoke. She had been sleeping lightly so it didn't take her long to get up. She couldn't yet see the fire but she could feel it. The heat in the air engulfed her.
