Music Week's Stephen Jones talks to the X Factor star as she prepares for release of debut album.

AFTER you left X Factor last year how did things unfold in terms of knowing you wanted to get an album out and signing a deal with Syco Music to make this album?

It was a great opportunity for me to get a deal with Syco. I always wanted to get my music out there and I have a label and team that believe in me. I get to have say in the music direction too which I think was really important for me.

Cher Lloyd's eyes flash defiance, although a smile plays across her lips. "I didn't listen to Girls Aloud growing up, no way," she says scornfully. "Too cheesy, man! Simon Cowell has already made it clear to his X Factor boot-campers that they're not allowed to get involved with fellow contestants. So we imagine, him and his skintight t-shirts will be having a real strop right about now!

So, if rumours are to be believed, Cher Lloyd and Aiden Grimshaw are about to feel the wrath of Cowell, as an insider reveals the pair are madly in love.

The very sneaky source told the Daily Mirror: ""Cher had a crush on Aiden right from the start but it took a couple of weeks for the feeling to become mutual."

You may have already heard but recently there was a huge online poll from MTV which an esteemed panel of music experts put together a list of 125 of the most era defining songs from the 80s. From this list the public was asked to vote for their favourite and although he didn't get the top spot, Michael won four places in the top 30, which is a huge acheivement!

His places were:

Working Together.

Michael Jackson released a single called 'State Of Shock' (1984) which appeared on the Jacksons 'Victory' album (1984). Jackson first began working on this duet with Freddie Mercury but in the end Mick Jagger appeared on the final version. Jackson and Mercury also worked on two more songs 'There Must Be More To Life Than This' and 'Victory' but did not finish them.
