over a year ago:
I like the Twilight characters, but only two-Alice and Carlisle. I wish there were sections of the story from their POV. But instead, we get mainly, in the Twilight series, Bella's point of view. For some reason, I don't like Bella. Maybe it's because:
1) I can't relate to her. She doesn't have any normal problems. Everyone in school loves her, three cute boys are drooling over her. The only person that hates her is supposed to be "the evil character." Lauren is awesome. She is the smartest one in the school for knowing that:
2) Bella chews up her friens into little pieces, spits them out, and expects them to be loyal to her. She deserts them all, and then expects them to help her when she comes back. She just uses them for her advantage and nothing else.
3)Bella is told to love her parents. But then why does she desert them after what-three months?- to be with her new boyfriend who kind of wants to kill her.
4)All Bella does is cook, clean, go to school, and help the man of the house, never really showing her toughness. She's a Pygmy Puff.
5)She acts oddly in some situations. If someone was watching me sleep, I'd whack him with an anvil.
5)The villains just sit down and send people to do the work for them. Then, they talk things over. Awesome.
HP characters have normal problems. They fall in love, and relationships sometimes don't work out. They have to do homework and study for tests, even though they aren't in any normal high school. There are bullies, snotty girls, and crazies they have to deal with.
The friends stick together. Sometimes they argue, but they make up in the end. They all make huge sacrifices to help each other, like when Ron and Hermione volunteer to go to the Department of Mysteries with Harry, despite knowing all the Death Eaters that will be there. They trust each other, and don't leave each other for some guy. If they do, they get back together in the end.
3) Harry misses his parents badly: he sees them in the Mirror of Erised, smiling and waving at him. That was my favorite scene in the whole book, Harry finally got to see his family.
Ron wants to prove himself to his parents, and listens to the radio every day just to be sure he doesn't hear their names. He defends them whenever someone insults them.
Hermione is forced to put a spell on her parents so they forget about her, so Voldemort can't attack them.
Hermione doesn't sit around, do dishes, and hope she finds a boyfriend, and neither do Luna or Ginny! They stand up and fight against stonger, more powerful people. They persevere, they win, they lose, they succeed and they fail, but they keep fighting no matter what.
Harry acts like a normal person would in some situations-he's afraid when he finds out he must die, grieved when Sirius dies, and infuriated when he realized Bellatrix (who is an awesome character, BTW) killed him. He loses all his sense in some situations, but that is what people do.
The Death Eaters have no mercy. They want to hurt and kill, not to let others do it for them. They feel a sadistic glee when they maim, which makes them more creepy and more to be feared. They don't talk things over. They fight.
Harry vs Edward
Main male character
Edward-loves Bella at first sight, is excited to kill helpless newborns, is never scared
Harry Potter-slowly he falls in love with Ginny, he doesn't want to kill, sacrifices himself for others, feels fear and pain
Bella vs. Hermione
Bella-cooks and cleans, jumps off a cliff when dumped,
Hermione: Brave, fights for what she believes in, doesn't need a BF to survive
James vs. Voldemort
James was AWESOME....I didn't want him to die! Voldemort was creepy and I wanted him to die, though, because he was a murderer and hurt so many people. When my younger sister watched the movie, she began checking for him under her bed. Voldemort can fly, can rip you to pieces, torture you, and THEN kill you.
Carlisle vs. Dumbledore:
My two favorite characters. Both of them have complex stories and personalities. I'll have to say Dumbledore, though, because they didn't describe Carlisle's story in enough detail....if they did, it would have been a tie.
Volturi vs. Bellatrix:
B: DIFFINDO! INCENDIO! MWAH HAH HAH!!!!
V: Can't we talk things over????
B: INCENDIO! DIFFINDO!!!!!!
Well, that's all for now.
