You say you keep your heart in a box, what exactly do you mean?
You hide it?
If so from what exactly?

im not reall sure i tend to kept my heart locked away in a dark corner of my heart. it just sits there waiting to be loved.
but it depends on why your heart is kept in a box.
but i dunno as long as you have ppl who love you then thats really all you should need.
I also beleive that it might be a problem but only that depends on weather you harm yourself or not. I should know cuz I did cut myself about a month ago but i had friends to help me through.
thnx for reading my inend gibberish.
hope this gives a bit of enlightenment.

Hmm and your consern is wether it is bad,
I really dont think it is bad.
others might call you heartless
Why is this a concern?
Do you wish to be able to talk about them or to be able to express them?
Sometimes we are just afraid to do so.

thank you, it did help. I did cut, a long time ago, when i was going through a dose of depression. I was turning 12. Than i started to get better. Dont know why though.

And Emma01, i honestly hope it's not bad, but i usually just hide my feelings with humor, sarcasm, and such. Thank you

That's fine, I keep the heart of a child in a jar on my dresser. ;o)

In all seriousness, the expression (or lack thereof) of your emotions is your own business. The only time it may become a problem is in relationships (both friendship and romantic). If a friend/lover feels like you can't open up to them, the relationship could go stagnant. If that ever becomes the case, I recommend trying to discuss at least the FACT that you have trouble discussing your feelings. If you're in a genuinely loving, understanding and trusting relationship, most people should accept this, and be grateful that you were honest enough to admit even that.

If you cling to the protection it gives it is hard for you to let others in. Their may be a really special person waiting just to talk to you.

In the long run, I would say yes because you have to deal with those emotions eventually. Usually, if it is continuously built up, it is harder to manage them. However, I do the exact same thing. You have to decide the higher price: Keep your heart, experience things partially, maybe fully and not get completely hurt or broken. Or open your heart, experience things fully and possibly get hurt or broken. A choice to make. One that I am still deciding. I'm not saying that you should be open all the time, but possibly when it matters the most, with serious situations and problems.

I also agree with noapplause. There is a special person who will help you if you open up. I'm lucky in that I finally found that person. Yet, you have to be willing to try and I truly hope you find that person.
