American Idol Season 8 Episode 34
Who Will Get The Shock Tonight? Review by Connie Norberg

The tension of tonight’s show was undoubtedly shocking! The Top 5 contestants, Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Matt Giraud open the show with a song called, “I’ve Got Rhythm” and get the crowd pumped for the reveal. Then Ryan Seacrest announces that Allison Iraheta’s birthday was Monday April 27 and Danny Gokey’s birthday was Friday April 24. So in celebration, the contestants decided to bake birthday cakes over the last weekend. It began as a fun-loving team effort. Then it slowly began to get dirty. A food fight came shortly after a small spill and eventually leads to a huge mess all over the American Idol Mansion’s kitchen. However, they all seemed to be having a blast while each of them were covered in a messy flour and egg topping.

As the show carries on, Ryan Seacrest offers up a “Birthday Gift” to Danny Gokey. As Danny Gokey opens the envelope, he reads aloud, “$6,000 Cleaning Bill” so he turned to Ryan Seacrest...

American Idol Episode 33 Season 8 - The Remaining Five...rm
review by Connie Norberg

This week on American Idol Season 8, the Top 5 Contestants heat things up with the Rat Pack Performances. Jamie Foxx (actor / comedian / singer) is their mentor this week. I thought Jamie Foxx was an outstanding choice for this week’s mentor with his impeccable talent and experience. I thought he really showed he cared for each and every one of the contestants’ performances.

So to kick things off, Kris Allen sings his heart out with a ballad, “The Way You Look Tonight” and gains approval from judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi. Simon Cowell, on the other hand, was not as enthused as the rest, by commenting that he thought Kris’ performance was “Wet” but thought Kris’ performance was “Still good.” Ryan Seacrest tries to get Simon’s definition on what he meant by “Wet” but Simon’s only reply was “Not dry!”

Was I the only one that thought the opening song of the results show was, well...lame? I'm watching rockers like David Cook, Carly, Amanda and Micheal Johns singing the lyrics, "Twiddle Dee Dee, Twiddle Dee Dum", (which they pulled off with as much sincerity as possible, I guess.) But I couldn't help thinking, don't they think this is a little "twiddle dee dumb", too? I mean, I'm trying to imagine their faces when they were handed the lyrics for their Big Opening Number. After belting out some of the greatest music ever written all season long, I wonder if they were just as thrilled (as Amanda looked) with that song.
Anyway, we'll be seeing the show in Greensboro this summer. But, kinda hoping that tune has dropped off the list of "must haves"
(By the way DC..I'll be the one in the front row with my 5 year old. Wave at her if you can! Or I might come with my 6 foot tall/newly divorced friend...DON'T wave at her...she's gettin' around a lot lately!)
God bless y'all.
