Looking at SFX magazine today there was an interview with the creators Ashley Pharoah and Matthew Graham saying that there is a bigger mystery at the heart of Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes... bigger than Sam's coma, and Alex's problem, the mystery of Gene Hunt... which will apparently take 3 series to solve!
