My opinion on Blair, Chuck, and the finale.

Honestly, I hated Chuck for the first couple of episodes. I thought he was just a rude asshole, I finally came around to him when I saw how good of a friend he was to Nate. I'll admit that I don't like old-Chuck as much as I thought I did, I really had thought that he had changed for the better and to think of how many times I've defended him on the GG boards telling people how much I thought he was different and how caring he was when he isnt... But then again Blair annoys me too. She can be very emotionally weak and it's frustrating. I personally think the writers of the show and the books are kind of rude to Blair. Everything horrible always happens to her. Re-watch the first couple of episodes if you don't agree. Her boyfriend and best friend obviously don't care enough about her and sleep together behind her back. Then after that her own mother chooses her best friend over her! It's almost ridiculous; the stuff they make Blair go through. (I could list a million more things that happened to her in the books) The Finale: Yes yes yes, I understand that the writers did it for ratings. It was a smart move, that way people stay hooked and wanting to watch for next season blah blah blah, that's not what I'm talking about. Yes, I am very upset with Chuck for doing what he did. No, I don't think what he did is justified. It was wrong, and I think that if you thought about the situation a little harder you could at least understand why some Blair/Chuck fans aren't siding with him. Think if YOU were Blair in the situation and the guy you just fell in love with did that to you. How would that make you feel? He may be Chuck Bass but there are some things that no one should be able to get away with, no matter how hot and rich they are. I'm just glad that since they gave Chuck some ugly girl to sleep with, they gave Blair a guy just as ugly to be with on the plane ride. Haha. Obviously neither of those "relationships" (if you can even call them that) will last, but I do hope that if Chuck does go all the way and sleep with the Interior Designer, than Blair does the same and decides to sleep with the Airplane guy. Because it wouldn't be fair unless they both get hurt. I don't think he did it because he was scared and he didn't want to hurt her or get hurt. If that was the real reason he would have went and talked it out with Blair. There are a million things he could've done in that situation if that were the case. I think he did it because he is scared of commitment, him and Blair never actually dated. And I'm sure a part of him missed his old life. He wouldn't have lived that way for so long if he didn't like it. And I'm certainly not saying that Blair has never done anything wrong in her past, we all already know that she has. Aside from all of that, if I wasn't such a huge fan of Blair and Chuck together I would have thought the ending was hilarious. We see this change from In-Love-Chuck to Party-Sex-Drugs-Chuck in 1 minute of a conversation with his father, even though it took him a couple of episodes of him with Blair to make him the opposite way. It was a very Chuck-like thing to do. But don't worry, it's obvious that Blair and Chuck will be reunited again next season, and I'm sure they will break up and get back together many times before the show ends. Please don't take offense to any of this. Please don't tell me that I'm wrong, because this is just my opinion I'd love to hear other people's opinions on the subject!

I said I used to THINK he was an asshole when I first started watching the show.
It's obvious he cares about Blair, I know that.
How do I missunderstand him? I don't know what you mean by that.
I'm not sure you even read my article right, I'm not saying Chuck is the most horrible person in the world, I'm just saying what he did was wrong.
Cheating on your boy/girlfriend is WRONG! No matter what happened, who you are, or why. That is what I am saying. And that is why I'm not siding with Chuck.
Now to the point... I think that Chuck lived his life they way he did because he never actually knew any other kind of life. He was raised like that, and that was the normal thing to do for him. But then he gets really involved with Blair, and he gets confused. Chuck is one of the most complex characters from GG.
I don't think that he actually does want to go back to his old lifestyle, he made the same mistake Lily did a lot of time ago: He thought his father would know him better than he did. And most of all, he had just realized how much he had been changing. He got scared, he freaked out, and he didn't think. He just did the first thing he could think of and he went to the old Chuck Bass. But he isn't back to his old ways for good, he just had a "relapse" and he will understand how wrong it was, and he will beg for her forgivness for a second time. And he got his heart broken too many times, I wouldn't want Blair to sleep with this Ben guy. If Chuck does sleep with Amelia, then okay, he's not acting the way he should, but I justify it. Just because he may break B's heart doesn't mean she should get revenge. He watched his best friend and the girl he was in love with making out, she knew he was watching and didn't care, she went for his help after everyone had let her down even though she had been treating him like crap through that whole episode. I don't think that the fair thing is to get his heart broken again...
Good article, though, I'm giving it 5* because of the hard work =)
If Blair hurt him soooo badly then maybe he shouldn't get with her. No one, (whether they're famous, fake, real or whatever) should ever be with someone that does something to hurt them.
She didn't cheat on him or anything, he knew that when him and Blair were getting together it would most likely be short lasted because she wanted to keep it a secret.
He knew.
You pretty much said what I said but in a different way, his father reminded him that being in a real relationship is hard work and it takes a lot of commitment, he got scared and went back to his old ways.
Cheating is wrong but you understand it?
You are all basing this on the fact that Blair has hurt Chuck in the PAST. But like I've said before cheating isn't the answer. You either talk it out or you break up and THEN sleep with someone else and move on. He didn't do that though because he still wants Blair and he knows that Blair probably wouldn't forgive him for sleeping with some other girl just because he got scared, that's a little selfish right?
I want her to forgive him.
And I understand why he did it, not the cheating by itself.
& cheating IS wrong but hes been so good until BART THE ASS said stuff that was the last straw!
great article!
If it wasn't for that I would hope that Blair wouldn't go within 10 ft. of that Ben guy.
Eventually I want Blair to forgive, and I know she will.
Please tell me why you understand. Just because of the whole Blair's hurt him before? Because he got scared?
I understand that he was going back to his old ways. That's what I understand, but Blair personally did nothing remotely wrong at this point to make him cheat in her.
I do still love Chuck, I think everyone thinks I'm dissing him and personally attacking him, but he is still one of my favorite GG characters.
I'm just saying I didn't like and don't agree with what he did.
I just want her to cheat on him because he cheats on her.
I am disagreeing with you still because you're not presenting yourself well. Those two statements contradict each other.
I already said I was being hypocritical so stop trying to proove me wrong when I already admitted to it.
Besides that, besides Blair, Besides Chuck, all I'm saying is that what he did is wrong.
And yeah if Blair did it, it would be wrong.
No matter who does it, it's wrong.
You're not even presenting yourself at all, you tell me why it's okay for Chuck to cheat on Blair.
I never said cheating wasn't or was wrong. And if your interpretation of the ending is that Chuck cheated on Blair, then so be it. I'm just commenting on your comments saying Cheating is WRONG, but oh I want Blair to do it so the relationship can be 'even'. It doesn't make sense whatsoever.
Oh I forgot to add in that you are wanting Blair to cheat on Chuck, so you really think Chuck cheating is that bad? Or not. And if it's that bad, why are you wanting Blair to do it in return?
I kinda just wish that neither of them would sleep with anyone else, but we'll see.
But I totally agree that if Chuck sleeps with the Amelia chick that Blair should sleep with the airplane dude, because then it would level the playing field. And even if neither of them found out about what the other did, there would be extreme dramatic irony because we, as the audience, would know that they are even, which, to me, would be rather satisfying.
I think we would all be really angry if, let's say, Chuck made the right decision and didn't sleep with that girl, but then Blair slept with that other guy and never told Chuck. We would be so angry with Blair. Or if Blair didn't sleep with that guy, but Chuck slept with that girl and didn't tell Blair, we would be pissed at him.
But if they either both cheated or both didn't cheat, everything would be even steven.
Get it?
Oh, by the way, I liked your article.=)
And thanks Haleigh, I'm glad there's 1 person who can give their opinion without freaking out at me.
Yes, that's what I interpreted of the finale, if Chuck doesn't end up sleeping with that girl then I will be really glad because he would be doing the same thing Nate did to Blair, except not with her best friend.
TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS WHOLE PART [I TOOK OUT THE PART I DIDN'T AGREE LOL]
And we can wish forever, but not a non-dramatic forever. I mean, at least I think they will end up together, but they will going back and forth. I hope that, as you said, they get through at least half the season together, as a solid couple and with drama, but different kind of drama. I mean, not drama between them, but drama including them and others. And maybe a little bit of drama between them, but not like cheating and that kind of stuff, more like a facing the reaction of their families and of the society and Blair dealing and trying to escape from saying the three words (I can really picture that lol!!) and that kind of stuff. I mean, funny drama.
I read this spoilers in which Blair was mad at him because he couldn't make it to the plain. And she's mad with him for 2 episodes and he just keeps begging for her forgiveness (apparently he did not sleep with froggie) and she finally forgives him on episode 2x03, because she can't resist his "boyish charm" (literally lol). And they get back together as a official couple. That's all I know.
I agree with you, Steph ;)
And it's totally okay, you don't all agree...I mean, that's what opinions are for, right? Differences. ;p
" And she's mad with him for 2 episodes and he just keeps begging for her forgiveness (apparently he did not sleep with froggie) and she finally forgives him on episode 2x03, because she can't resist his "boyish charm" (literally lol). Yay for spoilers!
And I agree with ChuckBlairLuvA, let's keep froggy off the show. I'm glad she was only in the last 4 minutes or so. I was afraid we'd see her on and off the whole finale!
=)
And YEAH! FROGGY-OUT-OFF-THE-SHOW!
ps -- wtf were they thinking using that ugly frog looking thing to distract chuck anyways ? you would think they would use someone at least halfway decent to mess up their relationship ..
Have you seen how big her ears are? They had to cover them up with her hair in the show, LOL!
LOL
And let me get this straight, Lydia Hearst is the blonde chick?
Oh and I totally agree that they should have picked someone prettier, like Megan Fox or something. That would have been friggin sweet.
P.S. Shandiii, I totally love the picture of Charlie. I love It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia. :)
