Blake on her favourite style icons: "My style has been totally influenced by Audrey Hepburn and Kate Moss equally—they’re such fashion icons. But Sienna Miller’s young urban style is also totally what I’m going for."
Blake on her favourite musicians: "My favorite music is Ray Charles for when I want to feel mellow, and Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake when I want something more funky."
Blake on what she would do if she wasn’t acting: "I would love to open my own interior decorating business…I grew up reading Martha Stewart and the William Sonoma catalog, I was never interested in things like Teen Beat."
Blake on how she developed her style: "Growing up, I was constantly borrowing clothes from my older sisters, or I’d pick out something from Urban Outfitters and my mom would tailor it to my size—I don’t think I ever dressed like a kid. Now that I’m on Gossip Girl, the wardrobe is so amazing and inspiring, it’s opened a whole new style gateway for me."

As Serena van der Woodsen, the California native shines as a young woman whose return after a mysterious year away is the talk of the town. She gave us the scoop on the show!
Hollywood.com: How did you get the role?
Blake Lively: Josh Schwartz called me about it. Maybe he watched The Sisterhood, I don’t know. I hear a lot of fans of the Gossip Girl books had seen me, and maybe because I had long blonde hair, they were blogging, ‘She has to be Serena.’ He told me “I wrote the show for you. You have to do this. I will not give it to anyone else.” We sat down and we talked about it. I thought about it for a little while. It felt right. Josh has so much heart in everything he does, from his locations to the actors he uses, to the wardrobe, and that was very important to me. That's the reason I did the show.
HW: What intrigued you about the character? What kind of journey will it be for her?
BL: Serena is very complex. She was what you can call a bad girl before and now she's trying to be good. She's been pulled in all different angles, from her mom, to her brother, to her best friend to this new good guy, Dan, to Nate, who she still...

It’s the hit TV show that’s setting fashion trends and is filled with lots of drama. Shot entirely on location in New York, “Gossip Girl” looks at the lives of a group of privileged teens who attend an exclusive private school on New York’s Upper East Side. At the center is Serena and Blair, sometimes best friends, other times, rivals.
NY1’s Neil Rosen recently had the privilege to visit the set at Silvercup Studios in Queens and talk to the talented cast.
Blake Lively plays Serena Vanderwoodsen.
Neil Rosen: “This great show gets to be shot in New York City.”
Blake Lively: “Well I think that without New York City our show wouldn’t work. It’s our lead character, it’s the center of our show. So I think if we were shooting against a concrete wall in L.A. it wouldn’t work. It really does tell the story so much.”
Neil Rosen: “This show has become iconic with a certain group of people and I was wondering how much fun it is to play Serena and you know, you get to wear all these great outfits, watching the show is like watching a fashion show.”
