It’s the hit TV show that’s setting fashion trends and is filled with lots of drama. Shot entirely on location in New York, “Gossip Girl” looks at the lives of a group of privileged teens who attend an exclusive private school on New York’s Upper East Side. At the center is Serena and Blair, sometimes best friends, other times, rivals.
NY1’s Neil Rosen recently had the privilege to visit the set at Silvercup Studios in Queens and talk to the talented cast.
Blake Lively plays Serena Vanderwoodsen.
Neil Rosen: “This great show gets to be shot in New York City.”
Blake Lively: “Well I think that without New York City our show wouldn’t work. It’s our lead character, it’s the center of our show. So I think if we were shooting against a concrete wall in L.A. it wouldn’t work. It really does tell the story so much.”
Neil Rosen: “This show has become iconic with a certain group of people and I was wondering how much fun it is to play Serena and you know, you get to wear all these great outfits, watching the show is like watching a fashion show.”
Blake Lively: “We get to wear the best designers. And I love fashion so much, my mom was a model and so were my sisters, so I got to grow up around that, and discovering new, young designers. It’s also thrilling to wear somebody that’s on the show that’s not established and then them sell a bunch of their pieces and helping other people out like that. Just getting to play this character alongside so many other talented young actors who I just love so much as people, and we’re all young and we’re all friends and we all uprooted from Los Angeles so we’re here together experiencing this amazing whirlwind together so it’s not too shabby.”
