Brennan lay on a picnic blanket in the grounds of the Jeffersonian. As it neared midnight, she readjusted her telescope and took another glimpse of the stars. They twinkled at her through the glass of the lens, silver drops on a sky of deep navy. She lay back on the blanket, alone in the middle of the grounds. So serene, so peaceful. She appreciated the silence that surrounded her as she listened. She listened to what the stars were trying to tell her. She could almost hear their whispers when she heard faint footsteps, softly stepping towards her.
