If you are looking for a break from vampire books try the "Belgariad" series by David Eddings. That series is probably the best series he has written.

the "secret circle" books by L.smith are good,fantasy/romance kinda thing."maximum ride" books by james patterson are good too.also the "gifted" series are ment to be good but i havnt read them so i cant comment

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (IS REALLY GOOD lol :D)

Anything By Robin Hobb! I love Robin Hobb. The Farseer Trilogy theres:
- Assassin's Apprentice;
- Royal Assassin; and
- Assassin's Quest.
AND
The Tawny Man Trilogy:
- Fool's Errand
- Golden Fool
- Fool's Fate

(btw I REALLY love Robin Hobb her characters and stories are so amazing!)
