the most desirable guys always seem to be angel and spike, (i know people still do like the others and their are those that would still prefer them I'm just going on the majority here)
and although angel and spike are both really good looking but so are
-oz,
-riley,
-xander
-even giles
they're all good looking, they're all main characters, who also all show their romantic side and have love interests at one point or another.
Could the fascination with spike and angel come from the dark personality of them?
but oz has that, riley and giles have proved they can be pretty kickass even xander has a few times
could it be the super power strength?
well oz has that once a month
and riley has the whole kick ass thing maybe not to that extent but he gets extra points for a uniform
could it be the long leather coat? yet doesn't giles where one in season 6 "grave" and andrew on in season 7 "never leave me" yet we don't feel suddenly compelled to them
so are we all just sickly fascinated with the vampires? i mean theres plenty of reasons why;
-theres the danger
-theres the neck biting (very sexual place)
-the seduction of the fact that their emotions are normally literally eternal
-night time
-they have power
-they will be forever young, beautiful and fit
-your never going to wake up next to them and smell garlic breath ;)
-they're animalistic
-they have the whole Gothic, black and red sense of fashion and style (black and red symbolize forbidden love/lust)
-they're up all night (hehe)
-the whole thing is taboo
-they're old fashion (the whole guys protecting the girls thing)
-they completely live for the now never a dull moment
plenty of good reasons why someone would be attracted to a vampire
but after all the rationalizing to be completely honest i find spike and angel more attractive in season 2 when their both evil!
what do you think?
is it just a coincidence that the too most

I totally agree. I've been thinking this for a while. But I'm still trying to decide whether its that they are more attractive because they are vamps or if its because they are fit and were cast because they are fit, so that people would find the vamps more attractive. Either way its a little bit sick. (if it makes any sense at all)
Then you look at the picture of both of them together had you just think think WOW. No actually you kinda stop thinking altogether and wonder why no one you meet in real life looks like that (its so unfair).

Now you've got me wondering why I'm so fascinated by them, and my interest started when I was about 5 years old. That's when I saw my first vampire movie, which had Christopher Lee as Dracula.
As for liking them better soul-less...I don't agree. I love the nice, caring, loving Angel (who can still kick butt amazingly well :) as apposed to the ruthless end the world Angelus.
Anyways, excellent soapbox. Loved the article and it gave me something to think about. I know I'm an Angel lover forever :)
I also know someone who looks a good deal like David Boreanaz. Not exactly, but close enough :)
