Fanpop's first Scoobies Awards were held on Saturday night, and what a night is was. We saw the cast and crew take to the specially laid virtual red carpet to collect their awards. Stars who turned up for the awards ceremony stretched from the one-off characters from way back in season one like the never forgotten Eric Balfour, who played Jesse, to those well known and loved veterans of the scoobie gang like wonderful Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) and gorgeous Alyson Hannigan (Willow).
We had world saving heroes like James Marsters (Spike) and Nick Brendon (Xander) rubbing shoulders with big bads such as Harry Groener (The Mayor) and Mark Metcalf (The Master). The turn out was from one end of the spectrum to the other which was great to see!

The categorise the star were nominated in reached from "And Whatever Happened To..." Award, which was won by Ethan Rayne (Robin Sachs), to the The Cockroach Award (best longest running character, which was taken by none other than Buffy herself (Sarah Michelle Gellar).
Then we had the classic Best Actor and Actress nominations for each season and over all series.

The night was hosted by the awards creator ArabellaElfie,
due in part to her trusty vote collectors and counters spikes_girl, Cinders and Movygirl. Another thanks has to go out to the fanpop four for giving us the chat room in which the awards took place. And thanks all those who petitioned for our very own little Buffy chat room!

The night was not only attended by the stars we all know and love but many of the fans dropped by as well to show their appreciation and dedication to a show which is still so close to their hearts. Thanks was given to all how attended as they made the night as awesome as possible with their banter and their opinions on results. I think the cheers could be heard by those exploring at the bottom of the Sunnydale crater!

We saw some heated, if slightly confusing, props betting between spikes_girl and ladolcevita early on in the night. The betting of kittens was thought to be a little too much no matter how appealing a currency they are. Or how much James C. Leary (Clem) and James Marsters argued the benefits of kitten gambling! Personally I'd rather have a cute kitten pet instead of Siamese kitten curry, not my favourite meal, but then I'm not demonic. !
The bets reached reached phenomenal heights as the night went on. A sudden and massive jump in both users props numbers are expected any minute!

Other fanpoppers however took advantage of the open bar causing both confusion and entertainment for all in attendance! After working her way through 'the white stuff' and 'the red stuff' Claire finally made it to 'the blue stuff', or so we were told.
What ever 'the stuff' consisted of many giggles were shared among the group. Even if it was decided that a Claire-to-English dictionary would be necessary for future reference!

Fanpoppers enjoyed many a discussion over winners announcements! Fanpoppers cheered, clapped and celebrated when many of the winners where announced. There was also a great deal of shock expressed and made known when Alyson Hannigan (Willow) was beaten out by Sarah Michelle Geller (Buffy) for Best Actress in the early seasons!
But when James Marsters (Spike) won best actor for every best season actor category he was nominated in, cheers and screams could be heard from spike_girl and em_em by all around.

There was of course The Honorary Mr. Pointy award (www.fanpop.com/spots/buffy-the-vampire-slayer/forum/po...092) which went to Mr Joss Wheadon him self, the man of the night, without whom there would be no Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe for us to enjoy and no reason for us to have come together for the Scoobie awards. What a tragically sad world that would be!
ArabellaElfie was also presented with a special honorary award by spikes_girl and ladolcevita because of her excellent planning and organising skills and dedication.

Throughout the night we all went a bit tangenty, but hey where is the fun in life without tangents?! We had a bit of Bangel bashing when it came to the best Bangel moments,a big long list of Spike shipping names from AgentCoop, ArabellaElfie, spikes_girl and em_em. We also had some slightly Supernatural related chat (causing some very big smiles on many people's faces) about who awesome some fans were, spike_girl, at guessing results before they were announced.
That topic of conversation lead to some much appreciated Spike (James Marsters) and Dean (Jensen Ackles, Supernatural) related pictures thanks to ArabellaElfie!

All conversation eventualy turned back to the matter in hand and after a fair few hours, round about 4 and a half hours in all, the Scoobies came to an end
at 10.30pm and 11.30pm for some of the fans over in the US and 4.30am over in the UK. But no matter what the time a fantastic night was enjoyed by all who attended. Fanpoppers are now waiting for the Shanshus over on the Angel spot and perhaps a general Buffyverse awards night?

Aw, I can't believe I was too busy to go to the scoobies. Darn the fact that I have to have an actual life outside of the internet, darn it to heck.

I missed it. The glamour, the awards, the sheer drunkenness. All because it would apparently be "unreasonable" of me to flake on prior commitments to attend an internet awards show. Some people and their ridiculous standards of etiquette

Alice and I are snitches, we compromised at 5 props each because we're both too lazy to give each other 70 props :)

Great article em! I liked recounting the night =) Can't wait for the Shanshus!
