Buffy has finally found a sense of normalcy and happiness in New York City with Spike. After going through hell together during their short time together, they're finally at peace and ready to push forward with their relationship, which has thus far stabalized. All of that is ripped to shreds when Buffy is thrown into the future due to unknown circumstances.
There she sees the consequences of her actions, activating the Slayer line and tipping the scales of good and evil. The future is now dark, bleak, and unstable as all the Slayers have been wiped out, save for one.

With the vampires, now referred to as lurks, gaining the upperhand and gathering their forces for an upheaval, the last thing Buffy expects is to see Spike, who has survived the last 200 years without her, never knowing what happened to her. He is barely recognizable given the change in appearance, which nwo include tattoos and a darker more radical hair style.
Now faced with a bitter, hateful, more violent version of the man she fell in love with, Buffy searches for a way to return to her time and come to terms with what Spike has become.
Is it still there, the passion that has been evident since the beginning?
