*I claim to be country, but i live in the ghetto
*id rock cowgirl boots before i would rock some stelletos
*i stand on my balcony.. my country music playin in the back
*looking out at dumpster divers, and bitches smoking crack
*little babies, running around... mommas nowhere in sight....
*thats the type of shit that makes me mad enouph to fight.

*four pair of shoes dangling above us on the telephone lines
*pregnant women walking by, not caring about their babies, drinking wine
*every five minutes my windows are shakin
*from posers driving by with their music vibratin
*they drive their cars made in the 80's
*with rims that are truly more fit to be on a mercedes
*every other minute, there are sirens going by
*another overdose... what a cost to pay for a high

*my neighbors fight all damn night
*over the dumbest shit... whos wrong and whos right.
*i miss the smell of the country... fresh cut grass in the summer
*all you smell here... gas, smoke, and rubber
*i miss hearing the birds chirping in the mornings and the cricketts at later on
*i miss watching my lil girl playing out in the lawn
*i miss walking outside at night to see the stars shine bright
*you cant see them good in the ghetto for all the street lights
*i miss taking kaylee outside at night to catch fireflies
*here, its like their extinct, or just dont like concrete or millions of cars goin by

*i miss looking out my front door to see green grass and trees
*when i gaze out from here, we see crackheads lighting up in the street
*but damnit im still a country girl, through and through
*soon ill be in the country again.. so kaylee can go to the same school i went to
*she can grow up innocent... with memories of swimming in the creek
*dancing in the grass......
*climbing all the trees
*having a yard where she can ride her bike... daddy can build her a sand box
*spending her summer days finding worms for fishing, and rolly pollys under rocks

*in the country, we can pick up, and go on adventures any time day or night
*whether it be fishing, walking through the woods, or flying a kite
*i want her to grow up the same way i did...
*living in a innocent world, and being a little redneck kid
*i want to be a mother like mine was...
*she has no idea what an awesome childhood she gave us:...
*i remember swimmingin the backyard, and getting out to catch bugs
*my momma, looking beautiful laying out... little radio by her side, playing the judds...
*we would catch jar flies, and tie them to a string....
*they would fly in circles... i thought it was a magical thing.
*i remember catching fireflies those warm summer nights
*momma would put them in an old jar, put them by our bed for our magical night light...
*i would be awe of her... so beautiful, so brave, and strong...
*then she would cover me with my blue blankie, i felt it kept me safe from all harm.
*she would then kiss me on the cheek and sing my faverite song...
*hush little baby, dont say a word, mommas gonna by you a mocking bird..
*i can hear it as if it were yeaturday... then we would close our eyes and pray

*going out in the woods, collecting rocks for the flower bed
*spending the whole day togather, my momma and me, little rednecks
*redneck is not an offensive ternanology for me....
*if you only knew what it really means...
*its living a simple life, carefree in the country...
*its knowing nothing bad about life... only nature, and ppl that love me...
*its growing up in a world, not knowing about gangs, or drugs...
*its all about a world so full of magic and make believe... the country is what i love!

*its all about showing my daughter, to love everything.... nature, people...
*its teaching her to not see colors.. only to see people
*i grew up color blind... i still am to this day
*i dont see black, white, brown.. i see beautiful people... its the way i was raised
*ill be out of the ghetto in the next few weeks...
*i cant wait to raise kaylee in the country.. and give her the knowledge my momma gave me...
*be independent, loving to everyone, never let a man disrespect me, and teaching me to always have drive...
*its all about teaching her us lil country girls can survive!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD MEMORY. MINE WAS JUST THE SIMPLE THINGS. AS YOU CAN SEE. I LOVE THINKING BACK TO THOSE TIMES. DONT YOU? JUST FOR A MOMENT, YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL WHAT YOU FELT LIKE AS A KID. INNOCENCE I THINK IS GODS GREATEST GIFT

Great poem! Although I notice you're a fan of marijuana, so I guess when you grew up you learned about drugs?

No, just kidding, I love the poem...I was a city kid so I didn't know about creeks and swimming and fishing and walks in the wood, at least not on a regular basis. I guess I missed out.
