Just a little Christmas story I was inspired to write. I started it the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving and just now managed to finish it. I thought that I would share it with my fellow FanPoppers to see what you all thought. It still needs a little work (in my opinion), but I thought it was good enough to post and get responses on.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE...ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT

The snow fell lightly from the sky. It was the perfect snow to compliment the eve of Christmas -- not too heavy, not too light. Just...perfect. The sun had set only an hour before, and the only lights that now penetrated the darkness came from the Christmas lights on display and the warm, cheery glow from multiple windows in the houses along the small cul-de-sac. The air held a certain chill to it, but many a person had given thanks that they were spared the need for traveling outdoors that night.
A small gust of wind descended from the heavens and blew its way along the intersecting street. It started out as any other gust of wind, but when it reached the cul-de-sac it seemed to take on a life of its own....

I got this from the H & H Nursery newletter.

Fresh holiday greens such as wreaths and garlands have a definite life span, but with the following tips you can keep them looking good so you can enjoy their wonderful scent and beauty throughout the holiday season.

If you aren't hanging or mounting your greens right away, lay them outside on the ground (best side up) in a cool shady location until you are ready to use them. Try to avoid getting the greenery wet.

Sunlight, heat and wind are the worst enemies for holiday greenery, so keep that in mind when hanging them up. Outdoors, wreaths will last much longer on doors with northern or eastern exposures. Southern or western exposures can cause greenery to dry and discolor much more quickly.

If hanging or mounting greenery indoors, be sure to keep it away from heating vents, and try to maintain room temperatures of 70 degrees or less. Also shutter direct sunlight window exposures to prevent excess discoloration.

Though similar to Russia's Baboushka, Italy's La Befana is a gift bringer with a style all her own. This is her sad and poignant story...

To those who would see her from the road she appeared to be nothing more than a lonely old woman who lived alone. But the lines on her old face were drawn from years of tragedy. The lines told the story of losing her husband and infant child to a sweeping disease, leaving her a widow and a childless mother.

Inded she did live alone as an old woman. She had very little. But what she did have was precious to her. She kept these small treasures locked up in a chest -- a small doll her that once belonged to her beloved child and a scrap of wool from her wedding dress, worn long ago when she married the man she loved.

In her loneliness she contemplated love, heaven and the wonders of nature. At night she would sit alone on her porch and look at the stars. As she thought these things her mind centered on a rumor of a special star, a star she often looked for. The star signaled the birth of a new king -- a king of kings, a king of hearts.
