Below is my review of the 1939 classic, "STAGECOACH", which was directed by John Ford: "STAGECOACH" (1939) Review The year 1939 is regarded by many film critics and moviegoers as the best year for Hollywood films. According to them, Hollywood was at the height of its Golden Age, and this particular year saw the release of an unusually large number of exceptional movies, many of which have been honored as memorable classics when multitudes of other films of the era have been largely forgotten. But I found myself preferring Otto Preminger's film adaptation a lot more. Surprisingly, Preminger had not been the first choice as the movie's director. Producer William Goetz, acting as 20th Century Fox's studio head in Darryl Zanuck’s absence, allowed Preminger to act as the film’s unit producer. Hey everybody! If you like Fred Astaire or even Judy Garland, join my club! Its a spot for the movie musical that they made together called "Easter Parade".Judy's voice is AMAZING, especially in the heartbreaking "Better Luck Next Time", and Fred is on top of his game in the wonderfully catchy and comical "Drum Crazy". If you haven't seen this film yet, I reccommend that you do. If you have, then join the club of other enthusiasts!
