This isn't spam - please take a min to read if you're a classical music fan!
I'm an English Literature student working with the online polling community http://www.pollthepeople.com this summer. The site aims to compile a truly definitive list of the greatest albums, books and films, free from pretensions and contrasting with numerous other tv/press polls which are often poorly researched/opinionated. The site works by people entering their 'Top 5s' for each poll, with these they can also be matched to other users with similar choices - offering a powerful recomendation tool.
We bought our data in a jumble from Amazon, and it needs a lot of sorting. As the site expands, we hope to offer more specific polls such as favourite composer, or pianist. However, I've managed to clean up the classical music poll, and we now list the most popular classical albums. See the top 10 below:
