I was gonna comment telling her how much I loved the speech but she had to turn off commenting,cause of all the bashing she was receiving.

I'm on the fence concerning this subject. I understand that thier trying to make a point by having a child read the speech but I felt it was a tad inappropriate.

She wasn't just reading the speech,she wrote it.

She's great, the kids got serious talent. But I disagree with what she's saying. A mother has the right to make that decision - what if having that baby could kill her? It's a very controversial issue. And she keeps referring to the fetus as a 'child'. It doesn't exist! We all eat eggs don't we (well, most of us)- we wouldn't not eat them because they might have had the potential to be something more.

Besides, if a Mother knows they can not take care of their baby, why would they bring it into this world? It is their decision, the fetus doesn't have a blimen clue what is going on. It doesn't even have the ability to think.

But she's got an amazing gift, and I am way impressed.

She's a great writer and speaker. However, I'm not moved.

1. She's only freaking 12. She doesn't know anything. She doesn't know the responsibility of being a parent, the hardship of being a mother. She doesn't know anything. Her opinion isn't valid.
2. The baby isn't actually a baby, or actually alive, therefor this entire video is worthless.

And, about the whole five months thing, most babies born when they are five months die, because they aren't FULLY DEVELOPED.
Therefor they can't live or thrive.
Soo.... they're gonna die anyways.
Its a ridiculous concept.

Therefor, either it dies immediately, or suffers a grueling, short life with thousands of medical conditions.

So basically she has no idea what she's talking about.

I love it when these pro-lifers try to claim the mother is "killing" a "child" while clearly not grasping the fact that many people don't consider a foetus to be alive, or to be more precise sentient until a certain point in development.

I'm not religious so i know that a human being is not created at conception (just like religious people know god exsists) the beginnings are put in motion but is the foetus a person? No.

A foetus becomes a person/sentient being when they develop brain activity and there are signs that thought has begun. Well this is all in my opinion - that for me, is when life begins - it only makes sense.

So that's why when people talk about "killing" being related with abortion i have to assume they are religious - why else would you think that life begins at conception when the so called "child" is merely a clump of cells? - and well i'm not religious at all so this kind of arguement means nothing to me.

Negative effects of having an abortion? I wonder if she seriously understands what the negative effects of forcing a raped women to continue a pregnancy could be?

I respect her opinion, as it's well argued and articulate. Also it's great to see a 12 year old interested in actual issues and not just twilight or whatever, she needs to check her statistics. I checked out what she said about 1/3 of woman being dissatisfied after abortion, and that's false. Also the fact that she cited the focus on the family website as a source calls into question a lot of what she said, because I've seen that website, and it's crazy.

Wow, she is excellent! Plus she's definitely a better debater then me ^^
