This poem is actually a song by Michael Falch. I just love the text so I decided to translate it. There's no dots or commas, I know. It's supposed to be that way. It rhymes in Danish but not in English... It's called "I et land uden høje bjerge" in Danish.
In a country with no high mountains
where it rains and snows
Shall I live my days
and die the day is happens
On a dot on the world map
as nobody reckon on
And so easy can be gone
when we don't have peace anymore
My flag doesn't have stars,
hammer or sails
It dropped down from heaven
almost by a mistake
In a country with no high mountains
will I build - will I believe
In a country with no high mountains
will I build - will I live
And do you come as stranger
just settle down
We don't start war
but no world-peace
But in my people who knocks
hearts of gold
We find it on bottles
and in the black humus
In a country with no high mountains
will I build - will I believe
In a country with no high mountains
will I build - will I live
In this land has my grandpa
grown the sweat of his face
And my mother took my father and had me
I think it was love
In a time with big dreams
will I dream my dreams big
and carry it with pride
and with no big words
In a country with no high mountains
will I build - will I believe
In a country with no high mountains
will I build - will I live.
