It was the worst day of his life. Every mean comment pounded on him like a hammer, crushing him from the inside out.
Such a bad day, in fact, he wanted it to be his last.
He staggered into his apartment and slammed the door behind him. He ate one last bowl of his favorite cereal, played one last video game, and watched every copy of Harry Potter and Star Wars that he owned- Twice. He looked at a picture of him and the team, all of them smiling and having a good time, and he felt a lump form in his throat.
"No tears," he said to himself, "I want to do this."
He walked slowly into his room and picked up the shiny black gun with shaking hands. He loaded it and put it to his head. Suddenly his whole life flashed before his eyes. And he realized somehing. His life sucked sometimes, sure, but he had friends, a well-paying job, a home, and he sort of liked 13. And there he was, with his finger on the trigger.
He lowered the gun, unloaded it, and dropped it in the trash. He made a mental note to take that garbage out to the dumpster out back as soon as he could. But he had already collapsed onto the couch, bawling harder than he ever had in lis life- the life he was about to end. He cried even harder.
After 6 hours straight of sobbing like a little girl, he collected himself and called up Taub.
After hearing the phone ring for what felt like forever, he Taub answered.
"Hello?" he asked.
"TAUB!" Kutner had never been so happy to hear his friends voice. "I need you to come to my apartment- NOW. I gotta tell you something. Something important."
"Cant you tell me now?" said Taub "Is it so important that I need to come over to your apartment?"
Kutner siffled. He felt the tears coming on again. "Yeah. Yeah, it is."
