Olivia sat slumped at her desk. The squad room was empty, that was why she was here. Tears rolled from her cheeks, falling softly onto the letter she was clutching. It was cruel. Her boyfriend had broken up with her...Through a letter. He didn't even have the guts to say it to her face.
It was then she felt a familiar hand on her shoulder.
"You alright, Liv?"
"Ummm, yeaaahhh..."
"Looks like he dropped you pretty hard." His hand massaged her shoulder consoling her.
"Yep, but I'm fine...Really, El...He was an ass"
"I'm sure he was Liv, and I know why it hurts so much." Elliot understood. Her now ex-boyfriend was her last chance at adoption.
"I can't adopt now. They only accept 'stable families'. I have no parents, siblings or partner. I know, there's still time, but I feel like I'm going to be alone forever..." Another tear rolled down her cheek.
"Liv, I know you're not going to be alone. I couldn't imagine working with another partner." he beamed at her, and she beamed back.
Long ago, Elliot realised that she was more perfect for him than words could speak. But he knew he could never be with her, partners were off-limits. No exceptions.
And as Liv looked into his reassuring eyes, she knew. He was the man of her dreams, the only man she could ever truely love. Her heart could never be broken by another man; it was already broken by the thought of never being with him.
