Neela and Ray do get their happy ending. Neela leaves County and heads to Baton Rouge. Since Ray's accident he's been in Baton Rouge recovering and then getting a job with people who have lost a limb. When he comes back for Halloween Neela and Ray start talking again. For a breath period it looked like they wouldn't get their happy ending because Neela hooks up with Simon but they argue and they split. Neela decides that she wants a job away from County and thus she goes to Baton Rouge to work in surgery there and to be with Ray.
