Here tonight - february the 17th 2008 - did Europe get a new country. Yes it is true. The province in Serbia, Kosovo, is now a country of it's own.
The albanian people in the province was tired of Serbia, and there has been a smaller conflict. The Serbians is not happy about it. They wonder if the albanians in the new country can handle it.
It has a population of just over two million people, predominantly ethnic Albanians, with smaller populations of Turks, Serbs, Romani people, Goranis, Bosniaks and other ethnic communities. Priština is the capital and largest city.

It's exciting to see how it will go.

I wish Kosovo good luck, for there independence, and there what may be fight to keep independence. As I am sure Surbia will not take this because after losing Montenegro, I am sure Serbia will not take the loss of another area of land lightly, as it mean the loss of bordering land with Albania, (a possable trading partner), and may symbolize the breaking apart of there country, but it is going to be rough for them, as now that Kosovo is a country (sort of) it has one of the most underdeveloped economies in Europe.
With the majority of the EU countries supporting them, it is felt that they will come under EU protection.
Serbia would be on very thin ice if they attacked.
