Fanpop: My Favourite Chill-Out Pastime!

The other thing that impressed me about Fanpop was the interaction betwen the users - I liked that. I did not really comment a lot at first but have since more than made up for those early days,lol. My first prop was from megloveskyle and my first fan was the awesome DrDevience. Her fanning me was kind of a shock because it happened a few minutes after this 'conversation': www.fanpop.com/spots/classic-science-fiction-films/ima...350. I have to admit that I became very taken with the fansite right from the beginning and started to spend more and more time on it. I started to discover spots that I could add to and slowly realized that I was spending a great deal of time on the site. That really surprised me. I had never joined any fansites before and thought sites like MySpace and Facebook were meant only for teenagers. Having said that, at first I felt a little like a fish out of water when I realized that the majority of fanpoppers were my own daughter's age. I need not have worried too much though. Right from the beginning I have always been made to feel very at home here, no one has ever made me feel like "go get on a fansite for your age!"I love the kids here as much as I do the older users in my own age group. I do believe I spend way too much time here - I have had days when I've been on the site for over 12 hours. The thing is I have found myself with quite a lot of spare time and spare time can sometimes mean lonely time. My daughter moved out of home and I have been out of work for over six months so there's many hours with nothing to do. You can only clean the house so many times a week,lol. So to me Fanpop is actually very theraputic. It's the place I come to not only to have a bit of fun but to de-stress from the real world. It's become a kind of addiction of sorts but a good one. It allows me to interact with many other people and that's important. For although this might only be considered the cyber world, the people ARE real. And it allows me to spend time enjoying and adding to many great spots of things I enjoy - the Bewitched spot being at the top of the list, of course,lol. So, I continue to visit here on a daily basis and am still having a lot of fun on the site. So a big THANK YOU to all the fanpoppers and to, of course, the F4 who created the site. Now, I must go and 'expose' myself to the fanpoppers as promised (www.fanpop.com/spots/fanpop-users/picks/results/168069)or I might find a few not-so-nice comments awaiting me,lol. Love the pop! |
