I'll start this guide off first by thanking the incredible fans that have made Fanpop what it is today.
Images have become a big part of Fanpop thanks to all of you who have contributed, and some people have been asking how to make the most of the images that you share with Fanpoppers and the rest of the world.
Most important:
1. A really descriptive title: If you upload an image of Chad Michael, giving it the title of "CM" or "chad" isn't going to help much. No one else searching for it will be able to find it unless they happen to be on the exact page that shows it. Instead, calling it something descriptive like Chad Michael wearing suit in Supernatural Season 1 Ending Credits will let other people find it more often. If there's more details, put it in the description, but descriptions and keyword tags are a lot less important than titles.
2. Share great images: This is a no-brainer.
3. Upload the biggest version you have: If you have a puny copy and one that is ginormous, upload the big one and we'll handle the rest. This doesn't apply to icons, of course.
4. Try not to upload something that has already been added by another fan. This isn't easy to determine in some big clubs, but it's a good thing to keep in mind.
5. Try to add credits if you found the image elsewhere on the net. This is just a good thing to do in general.
Of course, a handful of you, and everyone reading this probably know you by name, are image demigods, and upload so many images (we're talking hundreds or thousands of images each day) that it's not really possible to go and give each one a great title. That's totally cool and a gigantic contribution already, and these guidelines of course can't apply to those big batch uploads.
Hopefully, Fanpoppers can help out by adding descriptive "tags:" comments to other fans' uploaded images. For example, you can just add comments like "tags: new moon, embrace, black and white, transforming". It definitely won't hurt! Click here for more info.
Another option that could work in some cases would be to break one big batch into a few smaller batches. Splitting one big ass batch into four batches by season, for example, might help so that at least each batch can share a descriptive title (e.g. The Office season 2 cast) that people can search for.
But for those everyday single uploads, like that really great wallpaper you just made, you can help make the most of it by giving it a descriptive title and uploading the gigantic version.
