Stop the abuse/harrassment to members

If you`re gonna go snooping on our forum you should have done your research correctly Sherlock . This is what they said about me .

that's why i hate her. she's calling fanpop for freakin' MYRAPOP! what's her problem? i know she knows a lot of people and she's been here for ages, but so what? she's still just a fanpopper like everyone of us! .. ok. we're pinjas as well though. we rule! ;)

but seriously. you guys have no idea how much i hate her. she's been bashing on two of my friends, and she almost got one of them banned! and that was one of my closest friends on fanpop :|
i seriouslt got so pissed that i just wanted to kick her ass. but i couldn't do anything against her, 'cause then i would be gone by now -.-

So I have a right to be bloody pissed as hell . I don`t see what`s your point on writing this pointless article when it`s gonna get deleted anyways . If I need to grow up, you need to get a life . Rather than spending your life on Fanpop reading what others say, take up a hobby or something .

Kathiria, I'm sure you're at an age to know that bullying/harrassing other people back isn't on and that Fanpop isn't a place for that.

As for "snooping" it's not snooping if it's out in the public in plain site for everyone now is it?

When did I bully or harass them back? You don`t even know what`s going on so you need to mind your business! Using swear words is not considered harassment, what the hell is your problem?

Okay. You don't even know what happened. While it may be in your nature to bury unresolved issues, it's not for everyone. If someone says something bad about me or one of my friends, I'm not gonna let it go, I'm gonna fight back, because NOBODY has the right to say things like that. Especially when the person didn't do anything to them in the first place. You may think you're helping by posting this, but you don't know what happened so you're just worsening the issue.

I don't need to know what happened because it's called maturity for some people to just ignore situations and I'm hoping some others can learn this.

If someone has called you a name to your FACE, if someone has killed your puppy deal with those issues off the internet, otherwise your e-drama really doesn't need to continue on Fanpop where everyone can read this stuff, yes? By retaliating back you are actually creating a worse situation for yourselves and it continues till someone can grow the balls to ignore the other(s).

And what do you call writing this article? It sadly shows how pathetic your are . Last time I checked, swearing isn`t retaliation . I did nothing to those users after they said all that crap about me . I didn`t go and write some ridiculous article either . Putting our forum on blast just makes you look more stupid . Just take our forum off your updates and you won`t have to see my swear words . You`re not even part of that spot .

Do you honestly think you're being mature by posting this? You're just causing more issues.

I'm part of this community, there are a lot of people part of this community that I am sure also don't want to have to see abuse and bullying on this site. It is not just about that one forum, it is about Fanpop in general, that is only an example of things going on here that shouldn't be happening from either sides. There is no way to justify using swear words, people do find them offensive and telling them "just don't look" isn't a solution to a public community. There are rules, there is just general common kindness people need to follow.

Thanks, yeah it's not always the OTH fans but it seems like a lot of arguements seem to go on in those related spots :\ But it does also happen with spots that have a lot of pairings/shippings people seem to argue with each other a lot.

Snerkie isn't retaliating or calling them names. She is calming explaining her point of view which is the point of soapboxes. I think she was referring to ignoring people making harassing comments and not stooping down to their level.

People need to chill out. This is Fanpop. It ain't war or famine. This is the place where we post videos and talk about stuff we like.

OTH spot has a major problem!
myself and many other fans get attacked (not mentioning my whom) daily, becuase our opinions or the couple we like is not the same as the other persons!
ive really barely gone on that spot in the past month because of it's gross ness.
just earlier i got a message from a girl who was being attacked.
when it comes to issues lately ive been really good with them if the person wants to talk the subject of the show i will but if it results to name calling thats just way way way too imature for me!

When I first saw this in my updates, I must admit I anticipated something a bit different. Yes, there is disrespect and some selfishness going on at Fanpop among some users but you've just singled one person out to base your article on, Snerkie. That's unfair! This particular argument involving Myra goes back months and apparently is still going on. Why should she not respond? Maturity? Okay, she might be 27-years-old but that doesn't mean that she should allow insolent teenagers to treat her like crap. I wouldn't take it - either on the net or in real life.
If you really want to bring attention to "hatred" and bullying on the pop, there's many other examples that are far more relevant and appropriate.
Here's one ...
Less than 24 hous ago a user posted a pick in the Users spot that went something like this:

Do you dislike "user's name"? (I won't use the word hate because that might get my pick deleted)hehe.

I saw this pick within 5 minutes of it being posted and was the first to report it. Fortunately within an hour or so quite a few other users had also reported the pick instead of answering it. That pick is now deleted.

It seems to me that something like this should be considered far more offensive and unacceptable than a few four letter words by a user who's fed up with being dumped on!

i really agree with this just because a comment on a picture is actually saying something not mean or nasty but just saying something relevant gets blown up out of context. And im not naming names either..

adavilla; i answered because this is an article i wrote sooo usually if someone asks something on an article you write you usually reply :)

cammie; it's not just pointing out one person, i didn't even mention a single name in the article, i gave a link yes but because it was the first one i saw when coming back here and it bothered me to see stuff like that going on. I could go and find you another link of other people creating situations if that would ease people but really no one learns if you just go "people are being mean, stop it!" they need to see what is actually happening.

Also, you noted that the pick was deleted but also said this "arguement" has been going on months...how is that acceptable for that to continue? Just because a user is being "dumped on" does not mean they should retaliate towards users, no one on here should be being mean back to others. This is a community of interests...that's what it used to be at least, if it's changed tell me so though.

Crap! Where do you get off saying that people should not be mean back to others? So what you're saying is that someone should just cop whatever's being dished out and say nothing back? If this is indeed a community of interests as you keep on pointing out then EVERYONE should play by the same rules.
It's this simple: If I call you a bunch of indecent names then I can only expect that you're going to reciprocate likewise. If not, well, you must be an exceptional person.
Bottom line is that no one should be abusing anyone on here. However when it does happen, the person on the receiving end should not be expected to just cop it sweet and do or say nothing.

You wrote a paragraph and then linked to that particular forum which was as good as spelling out the user's name.
This article isn't so much about user abuse and bullying in general but more like some crusade against one user.

Okay I think everyone needs to calm down a bit. It's 3am in San Francisco and I'm concerned and upset just reading this thread. We didn't create this site for people to fight and gang up on one another or call one another names. I realize that people are passionate about different things and that can lead to very emotional responses, but we want this to be a place where people can openly express themselves without it resulting in persecution. Snerkie has always been a positive and encouraging user on Fanpop and I don't think she had any intention of pointing fingers at anyone regardless of the quote or the link. It's the spirit of her message that is important here. I don't think she or I for that matter want to see bullying or abuse AT ALL on the site. Papa and I can't play referee all the time and just hope that everyone can be civil and get along. We realize that people differ on opinions but please try to respect one another's opinions as well as their feelings. There are a lot of younger and impressionable users on the site that are also reading these threads so please be considerate of them as well. Cammie is right, no one should be abusing anyone on Fanpop. That goes every which way. I know that people have made friends on the site which is great and you feel like you need to defend one another but sometimes when I've read threads it can seem like ganging up. So let's just stop all the hating across the board and like Bob Marley said, everything's gonna be alright! We're all here to have fun and celebrate the things we love not fight about them. It's really time for me to go to bed, but I just wanted to throw in my two cents before this thread got uglier. Let's keep Fanpop a positive place everybody!

Okay Dave but obviously your statement contradicts this article . Why not just write a general article instead of linking forums and putting people on the spot? I`m being persecuted and that`s exactly what`s not supposed to happen . In my first comment I showed how I was targeted and I didn`t even tell papa about that .

Why don`t you guys just ban me and do us all a favor . This is what they`re after and it`s sad that you guys don`t see that . I think this article needs to get deleted .

Honestly Myra, I'm not trying to single out anyone with my response, just trying to put an end to all the fighting. I really don't care who Snerkie quoted specifically, that's not my point in commenting. My point is that in general I'd like to see everyone get along on the site.

I just think you guys should get over it. There are ways to express your feeling about someone without bashing them for all to see. I mean, send a private message to your friends! When you respond with such violent and filthy words, you're perverting what the rest of us think should be fun. And I think that this is a good article. I'm glad someone can stand up for what they think is right.

I'll just go back to reading the article I wrote for 'fanpop etiquette' titled, 'enough is enough' and mind my own business, too much shit shit slinging for me tonight.
