Now this is a little summary of all the questions asked aboot medals. YES i realise there is plenty of information on this site but it's scattered all over the pop so this is my attempt again to make a short summary of FAQs so I can reference this when the next "answer" is posted and then hit the report button! If you don't know what a medal is go here. The medal awarded will show on your profile in two ways: Underneath your spot mosaic complete with it's name and as a little coloured dot on the spot icon (or next to the spot name when you change to "list" viewing). When contributing to a spot you have a medal in the coloured dot will also appear next to your username on videos,images and links you posted. Of course we start with the spammiest of all spam questions: How do I get a medal? No one knows! It's a secret! Why? Because people aren't supposed to abuse the system! (They do but that is a different story.) You get medals by adding content. Some people think you get a medal faster if a lot of people rate your submissions highly. Can I get a medal if the spot I'm active in is small and only few fans rate my content? Yes. People have gotten medals on spots with 7 members. Rating seems to be a plus so it might take a little longer on a smaller spot but it's not necessary to have your content rated by hundreds of people. Do picks count? YES Do comments count? YES Do quizzes count? anyone see a pattern? ALL CONTENT WILL BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION..picks, articles, quizzes, images, screencaps, comments, icons, forums, videos, links, answers..*waits for smart user to tell her what she left oot* Does some content count more than other content? No one knows- quizzes that generate a lot of answers will probably count more than those of little interest that only a handful of fans wanted to answer..but no one knows for sure if adding a link counts less than writing an elaborate article. It's all speculation. I've been waiting for ages and totally deserve a medal in spot XYZ- what do I do? Nothing. Get a life, maybe. You keep adding content and you will be rewarded. The medal system is automated and though I don't know how many users fanpop has if you THINK aboot it- thats a lot of calculation so be patient. User XYZ has a medal and I don't but I totally deserve one more than her/him! Life is unfair and fanpop is life. The system is automated. It will get to your profile eventually and you will get a medal if you add a lot to fanpop. Can i lose my medal? If you unsubscribe and then re-subscribe from a spot you will "lose" your medal for a while. But you get it back (or a higher one depending on how much you contributed during that time) next time the medals are given oot.if you stay on the spot and just stop contributing because you got your medal and thats all you ever wanted the medal stays. How much do I have to add to get a medal/higher medal than now? No one knows. People might tell you numbers but they are only guessing themselves. Can I get a medal withoot adding images to a spot? Yes When are medals given oot? No one knows! It's an automated process. No one can tell you when it's "medal time". If I get a higher medal do I lose my other one? Yes, medals are replaced by a higher one- you can only get one medal per spot. You will normally go through all stages (green, yellow, red) but in some cases you might make a jump from green to red if you go totally insane! I'm not going to get all preachy aboot proper keywording, crediting and not bulk uploading 3000 icons with HNGH<3<3<3<3 in the title since I know people won't listen anyway. In my personal opinion medals aren't all that important because even though people will compliment and congratulate you on them they don't indicate AT ALL what a user has done for the site. Bulk uploading of thousands of screencaps will get you a medal not to mention people making fake accounts to rate their stuff or asking their friends to rate everything 5*. If you ask me the whole system should be removed from the site *feels the hate* and one genuine aka not to say "hi how r u" or "happy 3rd tuesday of the month" prop is worth more than 5 fanatic medals. Is there any way to find oot how close I am to getting a medal? No. P.S. I have 78 green medals, 10 yellow medals, and 3 red medals. The problem is WHERE THE HELL DID I GET THESE?!! I still don't understand what medals are, and/or how I got them. What do they mean? Are they like little tokens of fame?!
PS: What's a searchbar? Is it like Google?
I hope people read this so that they can stop asking the same questions over and over again.
also..if someone manages to post an ORIGINAL question aboot this subject ill update.

harold i have been suggesting that in the forum to the f4. part of me cant blame people because there is a lot of info on this site but its not in one place. i have made different suggestions: a big red help button that takes you to the faqs which would then be compiled of all the articles the f4 think are suitable to represent the site. or "fix" the how to articles (like on other sites) on top so they are always there at first glance- a sort of READ THIS FIRST collection....faq on the front page that will link you to the articles...but they never listen *sob*
