Motion To Restrict Twilight Content to the Twilight Club

I almost said this on yet another Twilight pick in yet another irrelevant spot, but I felt that the user would feel targeted, when really this isn't about that individual user, it's about the Twilight fans in general.

I have heard from some Twilight fans (note: I said "fans" and not "fanatics" and in this case, there is a very large difference) that they are actually afraid to go into the Twilight Spot anymore because of all the enthusiastic Twilight fanatics. Now that's OK. Fans (or fanatics) of any topic can be as crazy as they want within the confines of their own spot. House, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl-- fans of these spots are all known to get a little rowdy, and that's fine. Especially as most of the time, they stay within their designated spots.

Unfortunately, for some reason, Twilight Hysteria is so overly abundant, it's spilling out of its own club and into every other one on Fanpop. I see Twilight picks in Books to Read, Creative Outlet, Writing, Fanpop Users-- Pretty much everywhere. And while I think it's great that the fans all have such great enthusiasm for their fandom, I would very much appreciate it if the Twilight talk stayed in the Twilight spot. That's what it's there for, after all! And when a spot has too much excitement for one place, people make sub-clubs. Twilight has more sub-clubs than any other fandom, I bet, a lot of them are even repeated spots that diligent users are constantly trying to keep track of and report.

So basically, this is a request, of Twilight fanatics, and the Fanpop community at large. Please post content in the appropriate spot. It's true that I stumble across miscategorized content that has nothing to do with Twilight, so this is also for them. Not everyone is a fan of what you're a fan of, no matter how popular it is. But do you know where you can find people who ARE a fan of it? In its designated spot!

The sporadic "mixed-fandom" question may be tolerated. For example, posting a "Which series has the best vampires?" pick in the Vampires Club and including Twlight as an option. (By the way, please search that before you get the idea to create that question. I think it already exists. I'm just using it here as an example.) An example of an inappropriate question in the Vampires Club is "Team Jacob or Team Edward?!?!" (And by the way, there are well over fifty picks asking that question already, so please don't make that pick question either.) Just because the Vampire Club is for vampire fans doesn't necessarily mean that they are fans of Twilight. So Twilight-specific questions should remain in the Twilight spot.

As far as links, videos, and images go, cross-overs of course (like cross-fandom picks) are OK. For example, my favorite is the Buffy Stakes Edward link in the Buffy Spot. Book reviews, critiques, etc. of Twilight are also acceptable but only in the Books to Read Spot, and that is the only exception that comes to mind.

Is this clear? I'm actually impressed that I said this rationally and without losing my temper, because this has seriously been bugging me, guys. You know who you are. Be as enthusiastic about Twilight as you want, but please, keep it to its own spot(s). Thank you.

very well said, also don't tell other fanpopers not to voice there opinions if it is a negative on your pick about twilight if you post it in a non twilight spot.

Thank you, Cinders, for not only voicing what so many Fanpoppers have been thinking, but for doing it in a concise, coherent and polite way. AND you back it up with research! I think a link to this article should be posted in all the spots you mentioned and then some. We need to get the word out there.

Excellent article Cinders! The amount of misplaced Twilight content is crazy and the way you managed to get the point across in such a nice way is really impressive. Lets hope it doesnt fall on deaf ears.

Finally!!! Twilight is getting more overrated these days and thank you for speaking up for us non-twilight lovers (or people who want to kill anyone who's Twilight-addicted!)

I used to absolutely LOVE twilight. I mean, I was crazy about it. that was way back when (was it only a year ago? hmm...) if you said 'My favorite book is twilight.' that someone would say 'Oh, I've never heard of it. What is it about?'

But now with all the extreme craziness, I don't like it as much anymore. thanks for the intervention, because finding twilight stuff where it shouldn't be is really starting to annoy me.

Awesome article Cinders, and look at you being all calm and controlled, I'd would have gone off an a rant! :)
I like how you have clarifide that there are Twilight fans and then fanatics. I class myself as a Twilight fan and sometimes get a bit hurt (not quite the right word but I can't think of better one) when I get lumped in with the the crazy 'OMG Eddie is SO HAWT!!!' fans, because they just annoyme so much!

I agree with renrae. Back then, I was such a fan. I even joined the Twilight spot once. I don't think I made it 3 days before un-joining. Thanks for the article Cinders!!

Excellent, Carly! I have nothing against Twilight, Twilighters or "hottie" Edward but the reason I don't enjoy the Vampire spot anymore (which I used to love) is because 90% of the content these days is all about Twilight. So, a special thank you for making mention of the Vampire spot. Maybe that's what drove the good DrD away from the spot too, hmmmm.
I'm actually surprised there's no Twilight content in The Twilight Zone spot because I do believe the fangirls believe that the word Twilight can only mean one thing,LOL!

Finally someone who's "doing something about the problem". I've been annoyed by these crazy Twilight fans (and other fans that can't keep their fandom in the main spot or spots related to their fandom) for ages now! I actually thought about writing an article about it, but I'm not that good to put words on things or whatever. So I'm glad you did it! :)

Oh and. I did the same as Myra. Dropped the spot 'cause all the craziness on Fanpop made me hate it..

I totally get where you are coming from. I am a Twilight fanatic, and it annoys the heck out of me. I do admit, I did ask a Twilight question once in the Random spot, but apart from that I try really hard to keep the information/questions where they belong. And it works both ways too please - people, don't keep posting random crap in the Twilight spot. It's irritating.

You worded this article really well, couldn't have put it better myself, thanks for finally saying what everyone else was thinking.

I like Twilight, but I do get sick and tired of seeing it EVERYWHERE. Can't even go to the Vampires spot without being over run by Twilight crap. If I wanted to talk about Twilight, I'd go to that spot. To me Twilight is NOT a vampire movie, so seeing it there is just annoying.
