We've hit a stump in the road

I'm an observer, I see things happening and continuously in my head I'm going "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!?!". What am I talking about exactly? Fanpop has so many features, so many different things that allows us users to do different things all the time yet people aren't using them.

Articles > Fan Fiction
You DON'T need to make your own club to post your fan fiction. Fanpop has provided you with a drop down category in the articles to be able to publish your fan fiction and for ease of use of other users to find this.

Images > Fan Art
Once again, just like the fan fiction there is a category in the images where you can submit any fan art. New clubs do not need to be made so you can post these sorts of things.

Search
Use the search tool bar. Just because it's easier to make a club without searching first doesn't mean it is the correct thing to do. Yes a lot of users don't tag the clubs that are created properly but it is usually quite easy just to search for it and do a little look before you create a potential duplicate club.

Articles > Lists
I would love for people to start using this tool, or even the forum (whatever you think is more appropriate for the club) to list out clubs that relate to that topic. This will help weed out the duplicate clubs and potential ones, people can hopefully use it as a guide to what clubs they may like to join and what clubs can be created (but that is not a reason to create a million clubs).

So the users of Fanpop, start actually looking at the fine detail features that Fanpop allows before going and just making more and more clubs. If none of this can convince you, check out the recently created spots and see how many are being made.

Yes! You're SO right!
We've discussed these problems so many times, yet people continue to do it. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is very annoying and time consuming.

Great article, Snerkie! :)

I made an article listing Anime spots in the Anime spot. (That sounds weird, but what it is is an article linking to spots for specific anime series). It's kind of a chore to keep it updated, since new spots are always being added. But a lot of people have told me it's really helpful! And sometimes other users will even add links in comments for me to add to the list.

So I totally agree with that suggestion. It's helpful for others and helps foster a good community exchange :)

Anyway, 5 stars for you. Awesome article!

pretty good article i agree with everything but i do think that there are some exceptions for fan-fiction since some people make up characters and stories that may not have to do with a club/spot but all in all you are very much right and it has become a major problem. As I see it i think its because of newer users not knowing what to do with there content or where to post it so they find how to post a club and think its 'cool' so they make yet another useless spot.

Nice article i give it a 4 1/2 keep it up
