Introducing the New and Improved My Updates
|
|||||||||
The My Updates feature received a major overhaul during the last few weeks. I'll provide a quick run down of how it works and what it can do for you.Where Can I Find It? My Updates can be found on your user profile page if once you are logged in. If you have updates, it should be the first module on the right hand side of your page. If you don't have any updates, then the module doesn't show up - but you can always go to My Updates from the bottom right link in the About Me module on the top left of your profile page.
What Does It Do? My Updates shows you when content has been added to the clubs that you are subscribed to, when comments have been made to forums and content that you are watching, and when your receive props. New content My updates only shows new content that's been added to clubs that you're currently subscribed to. It doesn't show content that you've added, only what others have added. For images, it functions a little differently - showing only the last update for when any particular type of image has been added (icons, photos, wallpapers, fan art, or screencaps). (Because images often get uploaded in large groups, this will prevent your updates from being flooded but still let you know there are images to look at.)
You can now add any content (a link, video, article, image, quiz question, fan pick, forum threads, anything) to my updates so you'll know when someone makes a comment or responds. Just click on the "add to my updates" button at the upper right of each comment or replies module. Any comments made to that content or replies to that forum thread will now show up in your My Updates. Once you've added the content to my updates, you can click on "remove from my updates" to remove it. If you add content to Fanpop (a link, video, fan pick question, etc.), you'll automatically have the content added to your updates. Just click "remove from my updates" if you no longer want to be updated when people post comments on that content.
You can also change what updates you want shown on your profile page. Simply go to the my updates page (click on "my updates" on your profile page) and choose filter by "Filtered Updates" if it isn't already selected (it's the default, so you don't have to change it unless you filtered by something else like videos or picks). Click on "change my settings" to expand the module to show what filters are available. Uncheck any update types that you aren't interested in seeing and click the "Update with new filters" button. In this example, I've disabled all image updates, so I won't know if images have been added to my favorite clubs. (This is just an example, I'm turning them back on once I'm done writing this.)
That's pretty much what we've done with My Updates and I hope you all find it useful! |
