Ok, this is my first time to write a soapbox. Please be gentle with me and don't make it hurt too much. *giggle*
So I've been a member of Fanpop for a little while now, and I've seen how the community has evolved and grown. I first came to Fanpop for two reasons: Heroes and Viral Videos.
Towards the end of Season 1 of Heroes, my interest in Fanpop started waning. Call it TV burnout. But a funny thing happened: Dave sent me a message about a new feature that was going to debut: Picks! I dabbbled in it a little by adding the pick: Who is the better kung fu practitioner? It was fun, but I didn't think I'd be creative enough to add any good picks. Soon my profile was inundated with all these awesome picks that Fanpoppers were creating. I had fun answering them, but I knew I couldn't do any picks that would rival the sheer creativity of everyone else's.
Then, Benji sent me a prop for a final fantasy video that I submitted. He sent it to me on my birthday no less. Wow! I was excited. And then inspiration hit me. I submitted the How happy/excited do you get when you get a prop? pick and within a few hours, I had a bunch of responses, props, and random Fanpoppers becoming a fan of me. Determined to drag my fifteen minutes of fame, I noticed that comments were a great way to interact with other 'Poppers as well.
In the short time since, I've reallly seen a community grow up from a few power users (those who submit links on an hourly basis: I'm looking at you cressida and megloveskyle! =) ) to a whole slew of major contributers. I can seriously say the highlight of my day is when I log in and see all these updates to spots that I'm a fan of. (It doesn't hurt that I'm single, live a dull life, and work in an office job) I'm crazy about Fanpop. I've sipped the purple kool-aid and it tastes good! Thank you everyone for making this place such a wonderful place to hang out!

I didn't realise it had been your birthday too otherwise I would've said! I did wonder where you dissapeared to, I missed that old icon of you... uhm... letting loose all your bad feelings ¬_¬
I love it when people use the word "poppers"
