Spoiler picks don't have to ruin the fun for everyone

Nobody likes it when others ruin their fun by telling them the end of the story. Some people just aren't as caught up with others because they're busy or haven't gotten around to it. Whether it's your favorite TV show and you're a few episodes behind or a book that you haven't read yet, the last thing you want is for someone to tell you what happens. Spoilers can ruin the fun for everyone else and the last thing we want to do is take the fun out of your favorite stuff.

A lot of users were unhappy when fans were making picks that were spoilers during the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'm still reading Book 5 so when I saw many of those picks I was pretty unhappy myself. That's all about to change. We've added a new feature to let users declare their picks as spoilers! Now you can check off if your pick is a spoiler and it will be masked in the picks index for the spot. If you want to see it just click to reveal. We knew this would come in handy especially now that the new television season has started. Now you can unabashedly ask all the LOST and Heroes questions you want without ruining it for everyone else!

The last thing we want is for fans to be upset at other fans for sharing their love and excitement about their favorite topics. Sometimes you can't help but ask questions the minute the episode is over! So when you make your next pick, be considerate of your fellow fans and make sure you check the spoiler box if you think it might ruin someone else's fun.
Just check off the box if you think this question might ruin the fun for other fans who are behind
If you think you can handle it or are caught up, then click to reveal the pick

I just saw that appear in the midst of making some picks in the Nintendo spot and decided to test it out on the Koopa pick, as some of them feature in Super Paper Mario, which was only just recently released. Pretty cool, and like you say it will be handy for Lost and Heroes stuff. Though I must ask, what's wrong with the images you used? Saved as .jpgs instead of .pngs?

Thank you! I didn't even want to finish the Harry Potter book because it was all ruined for me. The Office was ruined too, but now it will be different!

KA! (my new abbreviation for kick ass)
Except; being the pessimist I am I would like to suggest a further feature (at this point you have permission to boo and hiss) you could set what date the spoiler was revealed on the TV show/book/whatever. But it would probably get mighty complicated :(

I'm thinking that like, in the future, a fanpop user could have settings for each spot like: "how many series behind I am" and "episodes missed" but just thinking about it I'm sure it would be very hard to programme

Well, thought it might be worth suggesting, I'll try to think of a way even though I'm not any good with computer codes :(

it's good and all but it doesn't hide the pick title in the "my updates" bit :\ so if i still look at that i'll still get spoiled

Great new feature! I hate to have something ruined by spoilers, especially since some of the shows I watch are an entire year behind. Thanks for this new add. :D

A great idea! Very thoughtful!! As much as I am tempted to look at spoilers of the Office sometimes, I honestly don't want to, so being able to see that it is a spoiler pick ahead of time is helpful!

Great new feature! Although, there is something about the big red spolier text that just makes me want to click it!! But maybe that's just cos I have no self-control :D Love the new feature, Fanpop just keeps getting better!
