Don't remain a Fanpop-provided face in the crowd. Upload your own profile image!
Just a few helpful guidelines for new & old users that will help keep Fanpop fantastic:

1. Upload a profile image. Find an image of you or of something that represents you and upload it as your user icon. This should be especially easy now that there are perfectly-sized icons (100x100) in almost every spot there for you to use. Otherwise you are just another green face in the crowd!

2. Rate videos and links. It's quick & easy, those who add videos and links will appreciate your honest opinions/ratings, and it is yet another way for you to leave your mark on Fanpop!

3. Proofread picks. Have fun with making picks (Lord knows I do!) but please make sure to double-check all spelling and grammar before pressing the "submit" button. We all make the occasional mistake given that there is no way to fix them (myself included) after submitting picks but that is no excuse for repeat offenders! Remember:
- you're = "you are"
- your = the possessive (ex: "Your videos are great!")
- it's = "it is"
- its = the possessive
- who's = "who is" (Who's noticing a grammar-related trend?)
- whose = the possessive (ex: "Whose clothes are better on Sex & the City?")

4. Flag broken videos. If a video or link is not working or is no longer available, please flag it as broken/outdated/etc. Many users who add videos have added so many that they can't revisit them all to make sure they are still working. Really, you're not being rude! On the other hand, it does get admittedly annoying to receive comments saying something along the lines of "please put the video back on". It is neither the user nor Fanpop taking the videos off. It is the original hosting site (Veoh, Youtube, etc) who has removed the video, and so, please, simply flag the video.

I hope no one takes these guidelines the wrong way. My intentions are good, these are only the helpful tips I have thought of (please share your suggestions if you believe I have left something off of the list) and if we all follow the guidelines, Fanpop will remain the fantastic, addictive website that it is today!

I must also add that if you are posting a soapbox article, don't just simply copy and paste it from another site, that's what the links, and news sections are for. Make it your own original article.

Yet another fantastic example of why you're one of our favorite members Cressida! You even managed to sneak in a grammar lesson in there!

I think it's perfectly okay to copy an article directly because you are giving the writer some credit and you are sharing information that not everyone has access to. Not everyone has the time to search the web and find great stuff to share with fanpop. The point of a soapbox is also to share articles, thats what it says on the fanpop info.

Is there a problem with just linking to an article? That's what links are for, after all.

Nice picture, by the way, kathiria!

Thanks, well it's okay to just link to an article but I think it's more personal this way. Just my humble opinion.

Yeah, but I believe the soapbox info states that it is for original articles, as in ones written by that person.
