Hello fellow fanpoppers :D
Welcome to Fanpop's got Talent 2009!!
Firstly i would like to explain about the issues with 'The Boss' Amazondebs (aka Awesomedebs): Debs has dissappeared recently, and has had little contact with the fanpopping world. We were really hoping she would be back in time for FGT but unfortunatly it looks like she wont be.
Myself and Saul_Mikoliunas decided it would be best to stay on as the judges with the help of Germany123 and cowgirlfromhell (who were last years back up judges) as Sauls and I felt it was fair to just keep things as they were for the most part. Without the boss here to make the decisions, we are just trying to do the best we can.
To stop any possible complaints about this we would like to clear up that all we are doing is collecting in the votes and organising things to make it easier for the the users who enter. we do not 'judge' the enterences. We just call ourselfs Judges because it sounds alot better than Voter Counter Uppers
So pretty much all the rules and such were layed out well last year, all the links will be in this forum. So if there is anything you are unsure of, most of it will be there and if there is any further questions you can ask them there, here or in the answers section of this spot.
Okay so Harold wrote an article on 'How FGT Works'. As we are now in 2009 some of these things are a little out dated.
I have already explaind about the judging situation, but the Entering rules are staying the same
Just to refresh your memory:
Entering
Each Fanpop User can submit one (1) entry per FGT competition.
Entries must be posted to or linked to the FGT spot and titled as "<username>'s entry".
Each entry must have keywords and a description.
Each entry must also include the following in its keywords, at a minimum:
* your username
* the year of your submission (to sort between future competitions)
* the talent(s) that are to be demonstrated
* "fanpop's got talent"
In addition, the following rules also apply to certain types of submissions:
Videos: any entries submitted as videos must be between one (1) and ten (10) minutes long.
Images: images posted must include proper credits. Image entries may include up to five (5) images, but multiple images must all be of the same subject.
Links: You may link to other content that demonstrates your talent (either on Fanpop or elsewhere), but you are encouraged to post or link to new content, rather than something that is "old" to the users and judges.
We thought we would decide on the voting once we've seen how everything progresses, so it will either be edited into this article, or it will have its own article...or both
Entrance Dates!
okay this is important becuase last year we ended up streaching over the deadline and it would be a lot easier if we didnt have to do this again.
So the entrance date starts at :
Midnight GMT June 8th
And closes at :
Midnight GMT July 4th
make sure thats noted in your brain!
Have fun with your talents, we cant wait to see them :D
So i hope this has cleared a few things up for FGT '09 :D ♥

submission, voting etc will be announced. TADAAAAA MONDAY JUNE 8TH
there was a little error in the article- its ten minutes this year because we found that 5 was a bit too short.OK THATS BEEN EDITED..VIDEOS CAN BE UP TO TEN MINUTES LONG
Only bribes in the form of money are accepted ^_^ ...not really but it would be nice to offer
Sorry, I just get confused easily lol. I want to make sure I understand everything.
Woot! Can't wait to get started! This is my first year entering FGT, so I'm excited! =D
*knows that because she is in a position of responsibility this year* =D
read article on how to mark them properly!!
But on a different theme. Yay!
Comment: the article should at least outline how winners are determined, something like "The winner is determined by a simple majority vote from the Fanpop users". Specifics you don't need to get into detail now, but saying "We'll tell you about voting later" is likely to make potential competitors nervous - if they don't know their audience or what to expect at all, they'll be unlikely to get involved.
Question: Is there any limitation on professionals entering the competition? In trying to promote the contest the past couple of days, I've been scouring some of the more likely clubs, and many of them have professional singers, actors and the like present. Instinctively I feel that the competition should be open to anyone, but at the same time I could see how it might be discouraging for your average user to have to go up against someone who does their talent for a living.
Comment: if you are seriously considering altering how the voting is done, please consider having multiple rounds...that is, that the X number of entrants with the most votes continue on as finalists, making another submission (in the same or - possibly - even a different category?) for a second, final round of competition. To me, this would be really nice way to extend the excitement of the competition, as well as potentially get more people interested in voting. I realize it would add to the work of the judges, but that's just counting votes, right?
Comment: the article should at least outline how winners are determined, something like "The winner is determined by a simple majority vote from the Fanpop users". the point is that it's all in the old articles..we felt a bit silly just rewriting everything thats on the spot anyway. if there are any CHANGES they will be communicated. this was a first "dipping the toe into water" kind of article. we were just starting activity to see if people would even respond! if people were even INTERESTED! we are still giving people time to look at submissions, are still working on the banner etc. nothing is set in stone- we are willing to edit, compromise and wait for people to come here and voice their opinions.
Question: Is there any limitation on professionals entering the competition? id say no but why dont you pose that as a pick? would you be reluctant to enter if you knew professionals were taking part? and see how that turns oot?

so far..we only have one entry (and an awesome one at that) so again- im thinking if like last year we have a decent number of entries we could do two rounds. if we only have 5..well then it would be a bit silly ;)
(Another) Comment- July 4th is just around the corner! Do you think It would be best to extend the date by at least a couple of weeks? Some people, Including myself, just discovered this article, and I don't even know what I'm going to do yet. :/
claire-aka-bob: are mock-talent entries encouraged this year, too?
we only got one from temptasia and debs last year, so it would be nice to have more this year :D ♥
