This article is a sidebar to the How Fanpop's Got Talent works summary article, and just describes the Mock Talent portion of the competition. It was last edited on 20 June 2009.
Mock Talent?
A mock talent is a parody of a Fanpop's Got Talent entry, created for fun and humor. As such you can enter any of the same types of content you would for the competition in earnest (see the summary article for details): images, articles, videos, and so forth.
Think of the talent shows you've watched, either on TV or in person. There's always the guy who is laughably bad; "making a laughably bad entry" is a good description of a Mock Talent.
How does the Mock Talent relate to Fanpop's Got Talent?
Most talent shows derive some entertainment value from the fact that there are always people who are so bad that they're funny. Sadly, FGT competitors have too much talent, and we don't get laughably bad entries as they've all been quite good, so far. So, to provide a means for the users to provide some comic relief with some bad talent acts, we have the Mock Talent.
Note that submitting a Mock Talent entry has no bearing on whether or not you may enter the regular Fanpop's Got Talent contest. You can enter one "serious" entry into FGT, and then you can, if you choose, enter one Mock Talent. Or you could do one and not the other.
Rules
Since this club is primarily devoted to the regular competition held in June, the following rules have been applied to distinguish mock entries from entries intended for the competition.
1. Entries must be titled "<username>'s Mock Talent, <competition year>" For example: "harold's Mock Talent, 2009"
2. Video entries should be less than 10 minutes long.
3. Please try to limit yourself to one Mock Talent entry per year. There's always the possibility that many users will want to enter a Mock Talent, and we don't want to lose the legitimate competition's entries in the midst of the parody ones!
4. Entries should be submitted during the time that the regular Fanpop's Got Talent competition is open, from the first day of submissions to the last day of voting.
Mock Competition?
Originally (back in 2008) it was thought that the Mock Talents would have a parallel competition to the actual Fanpop's Got Talent contest, but so far there hasn't been one, for lack of enough Mock Talent entries in a given year.
Examples
Here's an example: Temptasia's Mock Talent, 2008
Posting content the rest of the year
So, if regular entries and Mock Talent entries are limited to a few weeks in June/July, what about the rest of the year? By all means, post material! But note that it would just be for fun outside of the FGT contest; such material won't be considered for competition unless it's submitted during the contest's submission period, with the proper title & keywords (again, see the summary article for details). In particular, materials that promote the contest to the rest of Fanpop in a tasteful and club-topic-appropriate manner would be appreciated. FGT's success depends on adequate awareness and advance notice before the contest begins each year.
This article will be updated if any of the rules change, of course.

*has to laugh* oopsie. *laughs some more*
I totally see what you mean now but honestly when i was writing that comment i thought: people could misunderstand this as in invite to just post creative entries all year round (you know how people dont read)!
ha ha ha! i guess this was a "fail" on my part!
