I've been wondering the exact same thing! LOL maybe he sees both...like Melinda does, but its also possible he only sees sam but will come to see the ghost within...They should find a way to make this clear to us in the show, maybe if they take a picture and he says something like "thats not daddy" (it would be a picture of sam) LOL I don't know the show has some very confusing aspects. LOL

Haha! I've been wondering this as well! Especially because, if he sees Jim as Sam, & he goes by Sam & everything, then surely they'd TELL him about Jim & everything, right?? Because Jim IS his birth-dad & I'm SURE that growing up he would hear about Mel's 1st hubby Jim dying & her re-marrying Sam, etc. etc.

And if not - Then he STILL would've @ least seen pictures of Jim looking like.. Jim, haha! And Mel & him together, & stuff like that.. soo I mean, @ 5 years old, he'd HAVE 2 either know or start figuring out something & asking questions..

I'm assuming they're prob going to develop that through-out this season. It's just sooo confusing & weird though. Don't quite know how u'd go about that with a 5 year old.. but we'll see how they do it I suppose. :P

I'm so confused.. The writers did a major TV NO NO...Did anyone notice that on Jim/Sam's name badge in the hospital the picture is of the Jim who Died???? Not the Sam who we used to see last season in the reflection or mirror. Only Melinda and the TV viewers are supposed to see Jim as the old Jim who died lol...And how did Jim become a Dr in 5 years??? Or was Sam a Dr before he died? Jim/Sam's name on his hospital badge says S. James Lucas M.D." not Dr. S Lucas and not Dr. J Clancy. A lot of flubs here! and they are almost trying to make it seem as if last year never happened and that we the viewers all are to dumb to realize the corner the backed themselves into. It made good Drama last season but does not follow up this season..They should of used a "the whole death of Jim was a dream thingy" and had her wake up from it in the seasons premiere this year and start fresh...I'm not happy thus far
