Really?? I don't feel that way. I'm really liking season 5 a lot so far, actually. I think they've got good storylines going so far, w/ the awesome cliff-hangers about whatever I'm sure we'll find out about l8ter this season that's going on @ the hospital.
I, myself am a beyond HUGE Eli fan! He's become my favorite character on the show besides Jim, soo I guess that could contribute 2 be enjoying this season soo much so far. I think Jamie's doing an awesome job, & I'm LOVING all of Eli's storylines & incoorporation in2 the show. I also really like Aiden, Jim & Melinda's son, soo I'm enjoying getting 2 know him 2. The only thing I would agree w/ u on that really annoys me about this season so far, is how I feel like the writers are acting as though season 4 never happened, ya know?? They never talk about Jim being Sam, or we see "Sam" anymore, or get 2 know what Aiden knows & thinks about that whole ordeal, etc. etc. I'm pretty disappointed in that. Last year was my favorite season, & I feel as though the writers have chosen 2 ignore it this season 4 lack of coming up w/ answers 2 all the questions on what happened last year & what not, you know?? But other than that.. 4 me, personally, (which obviously doesn't really matter that much, haha!) But I am really enjoying season 5 so far, & I'm really sorry that you're not feelin' it. :( .. Hopefully it'll start to pick up again, & you'll enjoy it more once the season gets going a bit more!! ;D |

I agree completely! I think that as far as season five's story line goes, the writters have made for a decent plot but I am very disapointed in how much time they skipped over to get to this point.
I have been watching the show since the beginning, but I never truely got into the show until season 4. Jim dieing was a huge pivot for the show and took it to a whole new level, plus it gave Jim a chance to have a story line that revolved around him as being more than the supportive husband all the time. I think season 4 was spectacular and i really looked forward to season 5 to watch how Melinda and Jim would handle the emotional journey of reshaping their lives together and with a baby; not to mention how they would scrape up the money to afford a new mouth to feed and medical school for Jim to become a doctor. Did I miss something? Did they win the lottery, rob a bank? There is so much they have left out, countless struggles for the young family, and much more to have been explored. I think what annoys me most about season 5 is that everything seems to be the same as it ever was in seasons 1-3. Melinda goes to her shop every day, helps a ghost or two, and then is found back at home cuddling with hubby, Jim...only now they have a son. But it is still the same old story. This is a terrible follow up to the dramatic, exhilerating, and emotional season 4 which seems to have gone forgotten, as if Aiden is the happy product of when Melinda and Jim first began trying to have a baby. I am desperatly trying to keep up with the show now, but I find it hard to watch. I am hoping that the plot picks up and more of the past years events have an effect on what is to come. Fingers crossed. |

I am in some agreement with nearly everything posted here, but I have some differences too.
I have watched the show since the beginning. This show, while I enjoy things about the paranormal, is not the usual TV show for me. I tend to not like shows that I cry at the end every week. The reason I guess I like the show is because it has a really touching story about relationships and healing in almost every episode. With that said, I was really basically upset when they "killed off" Jim. I didn't think I would keep watching. Despite myself I did, and now it doesn't even seem like it happened. So then this season comes along and I have to say, I was blown away that they pulled the whole (5 year) thing...but I would imagine one never knows how long shows will last these days. They probably wanted to have Aiden and Melinda working together to make things a little different on the show. While I really thought I would be disgusted, I seem to keep watching. take into consideration that I have stopped watching CSI and CSI Miami after being a faithful viewer, so it isn't outside of the realm of possibility for me to give up on a show. I will hold up my reservations for the rest of the season, but I am guessing they are a little worried this might be the last season, and thus the jump. |
