and it isn't just lately, it's been since the first book was published. a girl i was babysitting said she wasn't allowed to read them, and i said, "why? i love harry potter!" and she said "OBVIOUSLY you've never heard of witchcraft." and i went, "OBVIOUSLY you've never heard of fiction." but yeah, it's just certain peoples' preferences. while i strongly disagree, there isn't really we can do about it. |

So I don't really have to worry. I don't know why a lot of people think "Satanism" when they hear Harry Potter. I use to have a friend who would sneak over to watch it because her family thought it was religiously incorrect. *sigh* well hopefully one day people will realize... |

Man. Horrible. Don't feel bad, I used to have a friend who had parents like that too. A lot can be learned from Harry Potter if you look. I don't won't to go off because of what others believe, but I think if I met your family, I'd have a few choice things to say to them.

i don't have problems with my family; in fact we are all potter fanatic; my sister the same as i am, my mum read the book as soon as they came out and enjoyed watching the movies and my dad just likes the movies but he knows a lot more with all of us saying "harry did this..", "my favorite sentence from the book is...", "wow that part at the forbidden forest was awesome!.."........x) also my cousins love it and so does my friends.... i have that problem just with some of my teachers and kids at school cause they are n a r r o w m i n d e d!! i hate that kind of people......... so i don't think i'd really get along with your realtives....... i hope you won't get offended by what i'm saying!!! i guess you can just continue liking hp just don't talk about it with your family a lot........=/ that's all!! don't lose your faith in magic!!;))) |

That's horrible that you have to go through that, I mean like my dad doesn't really like Harry Potter because he finds it cheesy, but nobody in my family finds it satanic and we are really devoted Christians, I don't see how it promotes Satanism.
