Ok, yesterday I answered a question in the "Answers" area asking "Do you think Ginny is a Mary Sue?" and it got me thinking. Here is my answer.

No, I do not think Ginny Weasley is a Mary Sue. For one, I don't think she is "too ostentatious for the audience's taste, or that the author seems to favor the character too highly." In my point of view, other than the fact that Ginny ends up with Harry, she really doesn't seem to be favoured. I don't know very much about J.K. Rowling as a person, but again, apart from the fact that they are both female, nothing jumps out at me that would indicate that Ginny is a proxy for the author. This would dispel the idea of self-insertion.

When it comes to the character having mystical powers, most of the characters in the Harry Potter series do. (The same goes for exotic pets.) Although, Ginny DOES cast a mean bat-bogey hex... That aside, I believe there are other characters that would better fall into the stigma of Mary Sue (or Marty Sue). For instance, we have Hermione. Muggle-born and pretty much the most brilliant witch of her year. Who wouldn’t want to be in her place? (This does not...

Ways To Humiliate, Annoy or Infuriate Ronald Weasley.
(These work best if you are a Slytherin.)
1. “DAYWALKER!”
2. Give him Clearasil wipes for his birthday.
3. Paint his room maroon when he isn’t looking.
4. Tell him Emerson’s considering making a move on Hermione, then look sympathetic and explain that you understand why he’s threatened, Emerson’s so... so...*dreamy sigh*
5. Depending on how badly he takes it and how funny you think it is, repeat number 4 with Harry/Draco/Dean/Michael Corner/Lockhart/Crabbe/Goyle/Snape/Sirius/any random boy or girl from Hogwarts, every few hours.
6. Nicknames and lots of them. Carrot top, Ginger nut, Duracell and Ginger Minger being but a few.
7. Write them in big letters all over the school.
8. “Weasley Is Our King”- the Slytherin version, of course, off key in the middle of the Great Hall.
9. “You know what they say; a little owl means a little... brain...”
10. Tell him that, even though his Mummy loves Harry better, you’ll always be there as a shoulder to cry on.

– Romance is a theme of the movie, with Harry drawn to Ginny Weasley and Ron attraction the attention of Lavender Brown.

– Jessie Cave, who plays Lavender Brown, beat more than 7,000 girls to win the role. It is her first major film role.

– Robert Knox, who plays Marcus Belby, was stabbed to death days after filming wrapped.

-Stars of the film are set to wear white ribbons to the premiere in honour of Knox.

– Hero Fiennes-Tiffin plays the young Voldemort/Tom Riddle. He is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who plays adult Voldemort/Tom Riddle.

– While David Yates insisted Fiennes-Tiffin did not get the role because of his uncle, he admitted the family resemblance was "a clincher".

– The new film marks the fifth and sixth actors to play Voldemort – In the Philosopher's Stone, he was played by Richard Bremmer and Ian Hart; Chamber of Secrets he was portrayed by Christian Coulson; Ralph Fiennes plays the adult Voldemort, and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin and...
