Dorian slowly closed her phone after reading the text, tucking it into her pocket."Who was the message from?" asked Sylar, looking at her curiously. "Just a friend." said Dorian looking at him. "I'll take care of it, no worries." The cab stopped at last, and the two of them got out after paying. "Noah and Parkman should be along an second." said Sylar looking at the street. --- Noah and Matt's cab pulled up to the curb, and Noah paid before getting out. "Remember, Matt," he said as he fastened the button on his jacket, "get whatever you can off of her during the meal. I want anything. Everything from her. You understand?" "Yeah, Noah, I got it." he said as they started over to Sylar and Dorian. "Really, I got it." he smiled when the approached Dorian and Sylar. "Pleasant ride?" he asked, hitching on a smile. "The best." said Sylar with a smile as way. "Shall we?" he asked, gesturing to the restaurant doors with his arm. "Let's." said Noah, walking in with Matt as Dorian took Sylar's arm. ---- Once seated, mild conversation started, mostly about the company, of course. Matt kept his gaze on Dorian, trying to look curious if she ever caught his eye. It was when Dorian was taking a sip of her wine before their meals arrived that she spoke at last. "Is there something on your mind, Matt?" she asked him as she set her glass down. "Oh, uh, nothing.... sorry." he stuttered slightly. "Quite alright." she smiled. "I'll be right back, gentleman." she stood from her chair. "Ladies room." she added, kissing Sylar on the cheek before she left. Noah watched her leave and his gaze went to Sylar. "How much do you know about this woman, Nathan?" he asked, looking at Sylar from across the table. "I honestly don't think that my love life is any of your buisness, Noah." "Humor me." said Noah. "I know she's beautiful. Orphaned, some years ago. She tells me that she knew Gabriel Gray. Unnerving as that is, I'm not going to condemn her choice in friends. She made it very clear to me that she had and has nothing to do with Sylar." "What else do you know about her?" Noah asked after a moment. Sylar sighed, understanding the look in Noah's eyes. "Yes, Noah, I know that she has an ability. I know also, that she knows, and sees the real me. Who I really am. And she loves me in spite of that. I think I need that right now, and I would appreciate it if you stopped interrogating me. Do we understand each other?" "We do indeed." said Noah. "Sorry for my intrusion." Dorian rejoined the table. "Seems tense over here." she said with a smile, taking a sip of er wine. "What were you talking about?" "You, interestingly enough." said Noah. "Seems Nathan cares for a good deal." "Well he better." said Dorian with a smile as she looked over at Sylar, kissing him briefly. "He defending my honor?" "And more." said Noah, as the food arrived at last. "Finally." said Sylar with a smile. "Gentleman, and lady," he smiled at Dorian, "let's eat." ---- After a good meal, and a large tip, the four of them were outside once more. "See you soon, I hope Noah." said Sylar as he shook his hand. "Dorian and I are off." Noah nodded. "See you later, Nathan. And, a pleasure to meet you, Miss Gray." Dorian nodded to him. "The pleasure was all mine, Noah." she said to him with a smile as a cab pulled up. "I am certain we will meet again." She smiled as Sylar opened the cab door for Dorian, and she got in, him after her. Noah and Matt watched the cab drive away. Urgently, Noah turned and looked at Matt. "Well?" he asked him, looking at Matt from behind his horn-rimmed glasses. "What did you get from her? Is she who i thought she was?" Matt blinked a little, and wiped his mouth distractedly with his hand. "I, I didn't, uh, I didn't get anything." ...TO BE CONTINUED... |
