Recently Heroes has taken a downturn in the ratings and been widely criticized by the press (and some fans), who cite a notable dip in quality in Season 2. There is some speculation these factors also contributed to Origins current demise, though Variety's sources say that is not the case. Reports say that it's unlikely that any Origins scripts had been completed, however during IGN TV's September interview with Kevin Smith -- the first writer to sign on to the spinoff -- he said he was in the middle of writing his installment.
On his website, John August writes about Origins being scrapped, saying "I had literally just hit 'Print' on my revised outline when I got the call from [Heroes executive producer] Tim Kring. So, yeah. I'm bummed. But I get it: It was a lot of money to spend in a very uncertain time. And if the labor situation resolves in an orderly fashion, the series could find itself out of the deep freeze for next season."

Why is everyone trying to ruin heroes???
I am sorry if this annoys anyone but its been on my mind a while and needed to say it. Why is everyone complaining about heroes? Firstly they are all saying that they loved season 1 and it has gone downhill since, well that is your opinion but I don't think it has, it is still awesome telly. All i think is that it has changed which a show needs to do else it would be boring. I mean three seasons all like season 1 would be monotonous and boring and then you would be complaining about that. Also people are blaming the writers and cast for the show but to be honest I think they have done a remarkable job and have produced one of the greatest shows on tv today. Now, I have noticed that it is not just this spot as well and on every spot there seems to be people who have to find plot holes or something to complain about and my message to them is just to watch the damn show. If they watched it instead of constantly criticising it then they would probably enjoy it. Now I know that the makers of heroes may have made some bad decisions but that doesn't mean you should say the whole show is rubbish and also some things happen that are...
