Part I
Six Weeks Later
The Beginning of the End
The incessant beeping of the alarm clock signified that it was five thirty in the morning. It couldn’t have come soon enough. Another night had come and past, another battle she had survived. Now another battle began, getting through the day. And so her new morning routine began. For ten minutes she lied in bed breathing shallowly trying to stave off the nausea. Once it had become tolerable she stood up slowly and made her way to the bathroom. Part one of the battle of the day, make herself look like nothing was wrong even though everything was wrong. Mechanically she withdrew her first weapon from the medicine cabinet, concealer. She covered the dark circles under her eyes…and the blackish-blue bruises that lined her throat. Her mind raced between memories she tried desperately to repress. No matter how hard she tried she couldn’t forget. They were always in the back of her mind waiting for one free moment when she wasn’t focused on something else to torment her. Like every other day...

“Oh nice,” someone shouted from far away, “You yell at everyone else to do clinic duty, but here you are sleeping through yours in fricken exam room 1. For God’s sake woman wake up!”
Something small and pen shaped ricocheted off her head startling her awake. Cuddy shot up and looked around wildly. A strange, intolerable feeling of agitation overtook her consciousness interfering with all rational thought. Someone was after her, she knew it.
“Cuddy,” Sarah said questioningly.
Her voice was distorted, like someone had put a recording in slow motion. Cuddy did not recognize who was speaking, the agitation became overwhelming, clouding out everything except the urge to run, run as fast as she could far away. Except her vision was blurred and strangely colorful. She couldn’t see anything clearly. Bursts of bright neon colors flashed across her visual field, swirling and expanding. The colors blended together and replayed all of the memories she had been trying to repress at the same time over and over again. She could hear her own distorted screams ringing in her ears followed by Tritters threats. She could...

CHAPTER 10 HAPPY
That night was the best night of their lives, it was most amazing. A night of passion right there in that hospital bed a night they had both waited for so long
5 YEARS LATER
He was so busy nowadays, but he always made time for his family and today was his day to pick up the kids, Lisa always let him off besides nothing had changed at work and he didn’t have a case. He got out the car and limped into the daycare. They were playing in the front room with all of the other little ankle bitters waiting for their parents. The minute they saw him they ran and clung to his legs “Daddy!” they yelled, they were both so sweet. First there was Rachel 5 years old, the daughter that Lisa had fostered and then adopted. Then there was Joel their natural born son, he had just turned four. Though it hurt him he carried them both out to the car and strapped them into their car seats.
“Daddy it was so fun today, what are we doing now?” Rachel asked from the back seat
